How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
Lehigh University requires a World Education Services (WES) evaluation from transfer applicants who attended an international institution where English is not the primary language of instruction, so it can evaluate their transfer credit.
Lehigh's evaluation agency, WES, accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary: you order the translation first, upload it to WES with your records, and WES sends its evaluation to Lehigh.
Graduate applicants to the Rossin College of Engineering attach an official English translation to transcripts in the original language; first-year admission pages publish no translation rule.
Lehigh at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Lehigh asks international transfer applicants for a WES evaluation (admissions requirements), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules).

Worth knowing about Lehigh
WES only
The one agency Lehigh names for international transfers.
Syllabi count
Credit review starts only once course information arrives.
Engineering: translation attached
Graduate transcripts in the original language plus English.
Lehigh requirements in detail
Translation of academic records
Lehigh publishes no translation rule of its own for undergraduates; for transfers the WES evaluation sets it.
Who may translate
For WES: a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency; not the applicant (WES).
Evaluation (transfer)
WES, required for anyone who attended an international institution where English is not the primary language of instruction; add Lehigh to your WES profile so it is sent electronically (Admissions requirements).
Evaluation (first-year)
None named. IB higher-level scores of 5+ and A-level grades of A or B may earn credit, evaluated individually (international students).
Course information
Transfer candidates submit official transcripts, course syllabi and course descriptions; credit evaluation does not begin until they arrive (catalog).
Graduate: Engineering
Transcripts in the original language with an official English translation attached; a WES or other evaluation only if the committee asks (Rossin College of Engineering: graduate admissions).
Graduate: Education
An evaluated transcript for education completed outside the US (College of Education: international students).
Where to send
Official transcripts directly from the granting institution, electronically (for example Parchment) or by mail to the Enrollment Services Center, 27 Memorial Drive W, Bethlehem, PA 18015 (Admissions requirements).
What WES asks for the translation
WES requires translations of all documents issued in a language other than English for US evaluations.
They must be exact and word-for-word, complete, typed, and made by a professional translator, for example a certified translation agency; WES does not accept translations completed by applicants and does not translate documents itself (WES).
Its help center adds that the translated words must follow the order of the original document (WES help).
You upload the translations in your WES account. Lehigh asks you to add it as a recipient in your WES profile so the evaluation arrives electronically (Admissions requirements). See also translation for WES.
Transfer credit at Lehigh: after admission, course by course
Lehigh evaluates prior college courses only after it offers you admission.
Registration & Academic Services makes preliminary credit decisions and then works with departments on specific course equivalencies, which can take several weeks; final approval comes when all final official transcripts are received (Transfer students).
The catalog asks every transfer candidate for official transcripts, syllabi and course descriptions, and the credit review will not start without them (Catalog: transfer students).
Lehigh does not say whether syllabi in another language must be translated. If yours are not in English, ask the international admissions contact, luinternational@lehigh.edu, before you order (Transfer students).
Graduate programs set their own rules
There is no single graduate rule.
The P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science requires transcripts in the original language with an official English translation attached, and does not say who must make it; it may request a credential evaluation, naming WES as one recognized agency, but none is needed if its internal assessment verifies your degree (Rossin College of Engineering: graduate admissions).
The College of Education asks international students for an evaluated transcript (College of Education: international students).
Need a certified translation for Lehigh?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- College and university transcripts, for the WES evaluation
- Degree certificates and diplomas
- Course syllabi and descriptions, if Lehigh asks for them in English
- Graduate transcripts for Rossin Engineering, with the translation attached
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Lehigh
Transfer applicants upload their translations to WES with their records and add Lehigh to their WES profile; WES sends the evaluation electronically (Admissions requirements, WES).
Official transcripts come directly from the granting institution, electronically or by mail to the Enrollment Services Center.
Rossin Engineering graduate applicants attach the official English translation to each transcript in the original language in the online application (Rossin College of Engineering: graduate admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Lehigh that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas; the WES evaluation is ordered by you from WES after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Lehigh need a translation of my transcripts?
For transfer applicants, Lehigh requires a WES evaluation (Admissions requirements), and WES needs a professional, word-for-word translation of documents not in English (WES: translation requirements).
Can I use an agency other than WES?
Lehigh's admissions requirements name only WES for international transfer applicants (Admissions requirements).
Do first-year applicants need an evaluation?
Lehigh's first-year requirements do not name one (Admissions requirements); IB and A-level results are evaluated individually for credit (International students (undergraduate)).
When will I know which credits transfer?
After admission. Registration & Academic Services sends a transfer credit evaluation, and final approval follows receipt of final official transcripts (Transfer students).
What do Engineering graduate applicants send?
Transcripts in the original language with an official English translation attached; an evaluation only if the committee asks (Rossin College of Engineering: graduate admissions).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
