Irvine Valley College: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

Irvine Valley College asks international applicants for official high school records, and for bank statements, with a certified English translation when they are not in English; its policy does not say who must make the translation. Irvine Valley College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. IVC may also ask for a credential evaluation from a NACES member, and requires one for credit from a foreign university; that evaluation comes from an evaluation agency, not from us.

IVC requirements at a glance

Irvine Valley College: requirements for documents in another language
What IVC asks for
TranslationA certified English translation of official high school records and transcripts, "if necessary", that is, when they are not in English (admission page, application).
Who may translateNot stated. IVC asks for a certified translation without naming a translator type.
High school recordsTranscripts from all years of high school, showing graduation; the GED or HiSET also count (source).
Bank statementsDated within the last four months, sent with the Affidavit of Support, and accompanied by a certified English translation if needed (source).
Credential evaluationIVC "may request" one at admission and will tell you by email; it is required for credit for study at a foreign university. Any agency on the NACES list (source).
Where it goesCCCApply online application, then the documents through the International Application Site; evaluations go electronically or directly from the agency to Admissions & Records.
Filing periods (from abroad)Fall: February 1 to July 1. Spring: September 1 to December 1. Summer: February 1 to April 10. F-1 transfers already in the US: rolling admission (application).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. IVC's international admission page and its 2026/27 International Student Application ask for a "certified English translation" and do not restrict who makes it, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 13, 2026.

Checked on October 13, 2026. Sources are listed at the end of this page. Policies change: confirm on IVC's own page before you submit.

Two applications, and the translation goes in the second

Applying to IVC from abroad is a two-part process. The CCCApply form, where you choose "Student Visa (F-1 or M-1)" even before you have a visa, does not admit you or produce an I-20 on its own. The second part is the International Student Application, submitted through IVC's International Application Site, and that is where your academic and financial documents go.

The certified English translation is asked for twice in that second part. Proof of high school completion must be official records or transcripts, from every year of high school, with a certified translation. The bank statement must be no more than four months old, cover IVC's estimated annual cost, travel with the Affidavit of Support, and carry a certified translation as well. Embassy-sponsored students send a financial guarantee from the sponsor instead.

When IVC asks for an evaluation

For admission, IVC treats the evaluation as conditional: the application says an official credential evaluation "may be requested" for overseas schools, and the credential evaluation page says IVC will email you if it is needed. For credit, it is not optional: anyone who wants study at a foreign university to count toward an IVC degree or certificate needs an evaluation, and IVC accepts any agency listed by NACES. Unofficial reports cannot be used to grant credit.

The report must reach Admissions & Records electronically or directly from the agency. IVC also warns that if you later transfer, each new college will need its own copy of the evaluation, so it is worth ordering extra official copies when you place the order with the agency.

Where IVC's pages differ

The international pages say an evaluation "may be requested" at admission (admission page, evaluation page). The Admissions & Records transcripts page says that to submit international transcripts to IVC at all, you must first have them evaluated and send the sealed report. The pages may refer to different purposes, admission and credit, but they do not say so. We have not resolved that difference; if you are unsure whether your file needs an evaluation, ask the International Student Center before you pay for one.

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to IVC

After the CCCApply form, upload the translated records and the translated bank statement, each with its original, in the International Student Application on IVC's International Application Site (source).

If IVC or your credit request requires an evaluation, the agency sends the report electronically or directly to IVC's Admissions & Records Office; transcripts from US schools also go to Admissions & Records (source).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For IVC that means we translate your high school records, bank statements and university transcripts; the NACES evaluation, when IVC asks for it, comes from an evaluation agency.

Frequently asked questions

Who can translate my high school records for Irvine Valley College?

IVC asks for a certified English translation and does not name who must make it (source). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation.

Do I need a credential evaluation to be admitted to IVC?

Only if IVC asks for one; it notifies applicants by email (source). You do need one to receive credit for study at a foreign university.

Does my bank statement need a translation?

Yes, if it is not in English. IVC wants a statement dated within the last four months, with a certified English translation, sent with the Affidavit of Support (source).

Which evaluation agencies does IVC accept?

Any agency listed on the NACES website. The official report must be sent electronically or directly to Admissions & Records; unofficial reports cannot be used for credit (source).

When can I apply to IVC from outside the US?

During the filing periods in the 2026/27 application: February 1 to July 1 for fall, September 1 to December 1 for spring, February 1 to April 10 for summer.

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
