How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Hinds Community College requires secondary school or college transcripts from abroad to be evaluated in the US by a NACES member, for F-1 applicants and for US citizens and permanent residents alike; a document or general evaluation showing the equivalent of a US high school diploma is enough.
Hinds's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Hinds requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own for admission; the evaluator needs the translation (Applying for a student visa).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; see below.
Evaluation
Transcripts evaluated in the US by a NACES member; a document or general evaluation showing the equivalent of a US high school diploma (US citizens or permanent residents with international transcripts).
Who it applies to
Foreign college credit
College courses from outside the US do not transfer to Hinds, though they may help in competitive health programs such as Nursing (US citizens or permanent residents with international transcripts).
Driver's license
Hinds' FAQ notes that a birth certificate for a Mississippi driver's license must be translated into English by a US translation service (Applying for a student visa).
What the evaluation agencies ask for the translation
Hinds accepts any NACES member and keeps a short list of companies its students use.
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate itself; ECE accepts a complete, literal translation in the same format as the original, or translates internally for an $85 waiver.
Some NACES members accept only translators certified by ATA; for those, ask eVerbary for a free quote.
Immigrants with records from home
Hinds writes its rule for US citizens and permanent residents as well as F-1 students: your secondary school record from your home country reaches Hinds through a US-based evaluation service, and a simple document report is enough to show you finished school (US citizens or permanent residents with international transcripts).
Residents may also qualify for in-state tuition and FAFSA. For the driver's license later, the birth certificate needs a translation from a US translation service, which eVerbary is (Applying for a student visa).

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Hinds
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends the evaluation to Hinds. F-1 applicants then send bank documents and the affidavit to the international office (Applying for a student visa).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Hinds that means we translate your records; the document or general evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
