Mississippi State University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

Mississippi State's international admissions page asks freshmen for certified, translated copies of all transcripts, mark sheets and diplomas, and does not say who must make the translation. Mississippi State University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. It also recommends, and for transfers requires, a NACES course-by-course evaluation (its catalog names WES instead), which we do not provide.

Freshmen: translations of the diploma and every mark sheet

Mississippi State's list for international freshmen starts with certified, translated copies of all transcripts, mark sheets and diplomas from your school (International admission process). That covers more than many universities ask for: each yearly or semester mark sheet and the diploma itself, not just a consolidated transcript. The page heads the list with documents to submit "officially from the institution" and does not say who has to translate; if your school cannot send translated copies, ask the Office of Admissions how it wants a separate translation delivered.

An ACT of 20 or SAT of 1030 is needed only if your GPA, as Mississippi State evaluates it, is below 3.0, or if you apply for scholarships (International admission process). That evaluation is where the evaluation agency comes in.

Which evaluation agency: the website and the catalog disagree

The admissions website recommends that freshmen, and requires that transfers, submit non-US credentials through a NACES member for a course-by-course evaluation with GPA calculation, naming TEC and MyIEE as preferred (International admission process). The 2026-2027 undergraduate catalog says secondary and college credentials must go through World Education Services, with the WES ICAP service requested by the student (catalog). The catalog also lists a $40 application fee; the website says $60. We have not resolved these differences. Ask the Office of Admissions which agency it wants before you pay for an evaluation; see translation for credential evaluation.

Graduate School: native language plus translation

The Graduate School wants official transcripts, individual mark sheets and diplomas in the native language, with translated copies where appropriate (Graduate School: transcripts). Its catalog adds that transcripts and transcript translations received directly from WES, with WES verification and evaluation, count as official (catalog). Online graduate programs ask for certified English translations with the original-language transcripts (Online graduate admissions process).

Statements of purpose, recommendations and test scores go through the graduate application portal; the Document of Support form and bank letter go to the International Services Office, and are not required for distance programs (Graduate Catalog 2026-2027: application process).

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to Mississippi State

Undergraduate applicants apply online, pay the application fee, and send the certified translated copies and the agency evaluation to the Office of Admissions; admitted students then follow the International Institute's instructions (International admission process).

Graduate applicants send official native-language records with translations in a sealed envelope or electronically to the Graduate School (Graduate School: transcripts, catalog).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. At Mississippi State that means we cover the translations; the NACES or WES evaluation comes from the agency, and official records come from your school.

Frequently asked questions

Who can translate my documents for Mississippi State?

The admissions page asks for certified, translated copies and does not name a translator (International admission process). A certified translation from eVerbary is that kind of translation.

Do I have to translate my diploma, or only my transcripts?

Both. Freshmen send certified translated copies of all transcripts, mark sheets and diplomas (International admission process).

Which evaluation agency should I use?

The admissions website prefers TEC or MyIEE (NACES members); the catalog names WES ICAP (website, catalog). Confirm with the Office of Admissions.

Do graduate applicants need certified translations?

The Graduate School asks for translated copies where appropriate; online programs ask for certified English translations (graduate, online).

Will my English composition course from abroad transfer?

No. Mississippi State gives no transfer credit for English composition completed outside the United States (Undergraduate Catalog 2026-2027: Admission of International Students).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
