Worth knowing about GRCC
Certified service
The Registrar's rule for transcript translations.
A copy is enough
Admission works from a translated copy.
WES or ECE
Named for the course-by-course evaluation.
GRCC requirements in detail
Translation (admission)
A copy of your high school diploma or transcript, or college transcript, translated into English (International students).
Who may translate
A certified translation service (Transfer credit (Office of the Registrar)).
Credit from abroad
A course-by-course evaluation by a NACES evaluator, sent to the Office of the Registrar or transfercredit@grcc.edu; WES and ECE are named, other NACES members accepted (Transfer credits to GRCC).
Where to send
Scan and email to internationalstudents@grcc.edu, or mail to the Admissions Office, RJF Student Services, 143 Bostwick Avenue NE, Grand Rapids (International students).
Deadlines (F-1)
From outside the US: June 1 for fall, October 1 for winter. Transfers within the US and Canadians: August 1 and December 1 (International students).
Funds
$34,695 for 2026-27; more for Dental, Culinary ($37,925) and Nursing ($42,245); bank documents dated within six months (International financial requirements).
Not returned
Transcripts sent to GRCC become its property (Transfer credit (Office of the Registrar)).
Admission from a translated copy, credit with a certified one
GRCC's four F-1 steps are the application, financial verification, English requirements and documentation, and the documentation step asks only for a copy of your high school diploma or transcript, or a college transcript, translated into English, plus the passport photo page (international students).
You scan and email them to internationalstudents@grcc.edu, with your full legal name in every message so GRCC can match records.
The Office of the Registrar sets the rule for who translates: English translations of transcripts should be made by a certified translation service (transfer credit). Since the same transcript often serves for admission and later for credit, a certified translation done once covers both steps.
Credit from colleges abroad
To receive credit for courses taken outside the US, you send GRCC a course-by-course evaluation completed by a NACES evaluator; GRCC names World Education Services and Educational Credential Evaluators and accepts other NACES members (transfer credits to GRCC).
The report goes to the Office of the Registrar or by email to transfercredit@grcc.edu. Only admitted, degree-seeking students have outside credits evaluated and posted (Transfer credit (Office of the Registrar)).
WES and ECE take a translation from a professional service, so the certified translation you made for GRCC can go to the agency with your records. See translation for WES.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to GRCC
Email scans of the translated records and your passport page to internationalstudents@grcc.edu, or mail them to the International Student Admissions Officer in the RJF building (International students).
For credit, the NACES agency sends the course-by-course evaluation to the Office of the Registrar or transfercredit@grcc.edu (Transfer credits to GRCC).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For GRCC that means we translate your diploma, transcripts and bank letters; the course-by-course evaluation for credit comes from WES, ECE or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
