GVSU at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

GVSU's international application page says transcripts not in English must be accompanied by an official English translation and does not restrict who translates (international application); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Worth knowing about GVSU

GVSU evaluates foreign credit itself.

Catalogs and syllabi need English versions.

Graduate: official transcripts or SEVIS ends.

GVSU requirements in detail

Translation

Official transcripts not in English must be accompanied by an official English translation (International application).

Who may translate

Official transcripts

Sent directly by your previous institution, by email (preferred) or mail to Admissions and Recruitment in Allendale (International application).

Transfer credit

Official course catalogs or syllabi for courses at non-US schools, with an English translation; GVSU does not accept evaluations by other institutions or private services (International application).

Graduate

Original, attested or certified copies of all records, with an English translated transcript and the original; unofficial uploads need an official English translation too (International application, graduate).

Deadlines

Undergraduate: June 1 for fall (financial form July 1), November 1 for winter (November 15). Graduate from abroad: May 1 and October 15 (International application).

Country rules

West Africa: WAEC results submitted through WAEC; India: three-year bachelor's accepted in Division I from NAAC A-graded institutions (International application).

GVSU reads foreign credit itself, from translated syllabi

GVSU does not want a WES or ECE report for transfer credit: it does not accept transfer credit evaluations conducted by other institutions or private credential evaluation services (international application).

Instead, applicants with university coursework abroad send the official course catalog or syllabi for every course completed, and if they are not in English, an English translation. They go to GVSU by email; the step is not required for admission.

That makes the syllabi the documents to plan for.

A translated catalog description lets GVSU match your course to its own, so translate the course title, hours, content and assessment; a translation of the transcript alone does not give it that. Paying for an evaluation GVSU will not read is the cost to avoid.

Graduate applicants: unofficial first, official before the first term ends

Graduate applicants send original, attested or certified copies of all academic records and diplomas, and if they are not in English, an English translated transcript together with the original (International application).

During the application you may upload unofficial transcripts, legible, in order and with your name and date of birth, and they must include an official English translation; the College of Computing accepts unofficial transcripts for its programs (graduate application).

If you enroll, final official transcripts must reach GVSU before the last day of your first semester; otherwise future registration is canceled and your SEVIS record is terminated (International application).

Translate the final transcript and the degree certificate early, so the official set arrives with its translation well before that date.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts and leaving certificate
  • University transcripts and degree certificates
  • Course catalogs or syllabi, for transfer credit
  • WAEC results, for applicants from West Africa

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to GVSU

  • Undergraduate transcripts come from your school by email or mail, with the official English translation alongside; syllabi and catalogs with their translations go to GVSU by email (International application). Your Laker Portal shows what has arrived.

  • Graduate applicants upload unofficial transcripts with their translations in the graduate application portal, then have official ones sent by the institution (Graduate application).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For GVSU that means we translate your transcripts, diplomas and syllabi; GVSU evaluates the credit itself, so no outside evaluation is needed.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Who can translate my transcript for GVSU?

GVSU asks for an official English translation and does not say who must make it (International application). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.

Should I get a WES evaluation for GVSU?

Not for transfer credit: GVSU does not accept evaluations by private credential evaluation services (International application).

Do my syllabi need to be translated?

Yes, if they are not in English (International application).

Can I apply to a graduate program with unofficial transcripts?

Yes, with an official English translation; final official transcripts are due before the end of your first semester (Graduate application).

When is the undergraduate deadline for fall?

June 1, and July 1 for the financial verification form (International application).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
