How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Glendale Community College asks F-1 applicants for high school and college records, and says any document not in English needs a certified English translation; it recommends, without requiring, a certified translator through the American Translators Association.

Glendale Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request.

College credit from outside the US also needs a report from an independent credentials evaluation agency, which we do not provide.

Glendale CC at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Glendale's application page asks for a certified English translation of non-English documents and recommends a certified translator through ATA (Application form & requirements); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets the rule, and eVerbary is an ATA corporate member (#273062) that can assign an individually ATA-certified translator on request. Worth knowing about Glendale CC

ATA recommended

A certified translator through ATA is suggested, not required.

Unofficial first

Unofficial records for review; official ones upon admission.

AA/AS only

Foreign credit counts for the GCC degree, not Cal-GETC.

Glendale CC requirements in detail

Translation

Non-English documents require a certified English translation; certified copies may be sent (International Students: application form & requirements). The catalog repeats it for high school and college records (catalog).

Who may translate

Not restricted; Glendale recommends a certified translator through the American Translators Association (International Students: application form & requirements).

Records to send

Proof of high school completion (transcripts, plus the diploma if they lack a graduation date), all college transcripts, and ESL school transcripts; high school records are not needed after one college term (International Students: application form & requirements).

Unofficial vs official

Unofficial documents may be submitted for review; official documents are required upon admission, and nothing is returned (International Students: application form & requirements).

Evaluation for admission

Not listed.

Foreign college credit

Evaluation by an independent international credentials evaluation agency, from a list held by Admissions & Records and the International Student Center, sent by the agency (Glendale Community College catalog 2025–2026).

Deadlines (fall)

Overseas applicants July 10; F-1 transfers and visa holders August 1; decisions within 10 business days of a complete file; $60 fee (International Students: application form & requirements).

Certified translation, with an ATA recommendation

Glendale's application requirements state the rule twice: non-English documents need a certified English translation, and in the educational records section Glendale adds that it recommends a certified translator through the American Translators Association.

The wording is a recommendation, so a certified translation from a professional service meets the rule; if you prefer to follow the suggestion, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request.

Glendale accepts certified copies and lets you start with unofficial documents for review, but official documents are required upon admission, and everything you submit becomes Glendale's property.

Translate the same version you will later send officially, so the translation matches the record on file.

Which records, by applicant

High school applicants prove completion with their transcripts, adding a graduation certificate or diploma if the transcript does not show the graduation date; students in their final year can apply with in-progress records and send final ones before enrolling (International Students: application form & requirements).

If you have completed at least one term at a college or university, Glendale does not need your high school records, only the transcripts of every college attended.

Students from a language school send their ESL transcripts too; completing the required level at a GCC partner ESL program meets the English requirement. For high school records, see our high school diploma translation page.

Credit for college work abroad

The 2025–2026 catalog sends college credit from outside the US to an independent international credentials evaluation agency; Admissions & Records and the International Student Center hold the list, and the agency mails the official copy.

The report must break coursework into upper and lower division, give the semester unit equivalency and a grade (A–F or Pass/No Pass).

Those courses count only for the GCC AA or AS, not for Cal-GETC certification, and never for English Composition, Oral Communication or American Institutions.

Need a certified translation for Glendale CC?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school transcripts and, if needed, the diploma or graduation certificate
  • College or university transcripts, every institution
  • ESL or language school transcripts
  • Bank statements and the affidavit of financial support documents

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Glendale CC

  • Send the translation with the copy of the original as part of the International Student Application package described in Glendale's application guide; after applying you get a GCC Student ID and track the file in MyGCC (International Students: application form & requirements).

  • For credit, the translation goes to the evaluation agency, which sends its official report to Glendale; we can also email the translation directly to an admissions office on request.

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Glendale CC, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Glendale that means we translate your records; the credit evaluation with unit and division breakdown comes from an independent evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Glendale Community College require an ATA-certified translator?

Can I apply with unofficial documents?

Do I need my high school records if I studied at a university?

Not if you completed at least one college or university term (International Students: application form & requirements).

How do I get credit for courses I took abroad?

Through an independent credentials evaluation agency from the list at Admissions & Records; the credit counts for the GCC AA or AS only (Glendale Community College catalog 2025–2026).

When are the deadlines?

For fall, July 10 for overseas applicants and August 1 for F-1 transfers and visa holders (International Students: application form & requirements).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
