Edmonds College: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

Edmonds asks for academic records at admission only from High School Completion applicants, who send official high school transcripts in the original and translated into English; students who want credit for college study abroad add a certified English translation, course descriptions and a NACES course-by-course report. Its pages do not say who must translate. Edmonds College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; the course-by-course report comes from an evaluation agency, which we are not.

High school translationOfficial transcripts, original and translated into English, for every year from 9th grade or the last year of junior high (source, International High School).
Credit from abroadOfficial transcript or certified copy in a sealed envelope from your college, a certified English translation, course descriptions and a foreign credential evaluation (source).
Who may translateNot stated.
EvaluationCourse-by-course report from a NACES-approved agency; Edmonds often sees FIS and WES but endorses none (Enrollment Services).
WhenApply and be accepted first; you may order the evaluation before arrival, and credit is granted after you enroll (source).
ScholarshipThe $1,000 new student scholarship needs an unofficial transcript in English with at least a 3.3 GPA (source).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. Edmonds' international office asks for transcripts "both original and translated into English" (admissions FAQ) and lists a "Certified English translation" among the documents for foreign credit (transferring to Edmonds), without naming who must make it. A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that translation. Policy checked on October 13, 2026.

High School Completion: the translation earns you credit

Edmonds' International High School Completion program lets students 16 and older finish a Washington state high school diploma on campus. No high school experience is required, but students may get credit for high school classes already taken, which is why the translation matters (International High School). Edmonds asks for official transcripts in English for every year of high school, including ninth grade or the final year of junior high (middle) school, submitted with the application or by email to InternationalHS@edmonds.edu.

The program brochure lists what each transcript should show: the school's name and address, the start and end dates of each term, the grade level, the courses and grades, and activities such as music, art, sports and clubs. A translation that keeps every one of those lines is what Edmonds needs to credit them. On arrival, bring both the official transcripts and the English translations with you (source).

College credit from abroad: four documents

International students who studied at a college or university outside the US can ask for transfer credit once they have applied and been accepted (transferring to Edmonds). The international office lists four documents: an official transcript or a certified copy in a sealed envelope from your college, a certified English translation, course descriptions, and a foreign credential evaluation from a professional agency. You can order the evaluation before you arrive; credit is granted after you enroll.

Enrollment Services, which handles the evaluation for all students, wants an official course-by-course report from an independent agency that is a NACES member, and tells students to avoid a document-by-document report unless all they need to show is a previous degree (source). It often sees reports from FIS and WES but accepts any NACES member; the international office publishes its own agency list. Requests go through a Transfer Evaluation Request Form, with problems sent to credentials@edmonds.edu.

How Edmonds treats some foreign courses

Two rules affect what your evaluated courses become (source). English courses from a place where English is not the primary language do not count as Edmonds English courses; they are treated as Modern Language (MLANG) credit. Laboratory sciences taken abroad usually come in as general science, because labs are rarely shown on reports; a detailed syllabus can earn an exception, so translate the syllabus along with the transcript if you have one.

Documents applicants usually translate

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to Edmonds

F-1 applicants upload documents in the international online application; High School Completion applicants can also email transcripts to InternationalHS@edmonds.edu and bring the official transcripts and translations when they arrive (source, source).

For college credit, the certified translation goes with the sealed transcript and course descriptions to Enrollment Services in Lynnwood Hall, together with the agency's course-by-course report (source, source). Residents and other students with records from outside the US follow the same Enrollment Services steps (source).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. At Edmonds that means the NACES course-by-course report for college credit comes from an agency such as FIS or WES; we translate the transcript, diploma and course descriptions.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to send transcripts to apply to Edmonds College?

Only if you are applying to the High School to University program. Then they must be official transcripts, both original and translated into English (source).

Who can translate my transcripts for Edmonds?

Edmonds' pages ask for transcripts translated into English, and a certified English translation for credit from abroad, without naming a translator type (source). Edmonds College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

What do I need to transfer credit from a university in my country?

A sealed official transcript or certified copy, a certified English translation, course descriptions and a foreign credential evaluation, after you have been accepted (source).

Which evaluation agency should I use?

Any NACES member, course-by-course; Edmonds often sees FIS and WES reports but does not endorse an agency (source).

Will my English classes from abroad count as English at Edmonds?

Not unless English is the primary language where you took them; otherwise they count as Modern Language credit (source).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
