How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Cerro Coso Community College says all documents not in English must be translated before submission, without saying who must translate, and its I-20 application adds that every international transcript must be evaluated by an agency approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Cerro Coso Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Its FAQ words the rule differently, as a translation certified by an international evaluation service, so ask the International Student Team if in doubt; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.
Cerro Coso at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Cerro Coso's international page says "All documents not in English must be translated before submission" and names no translator (international students); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation.
The evaluation agencies on the state list it links, such as WES, accept professional translations too (WES). Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

All international transcripts, by an agency approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, to establish accreditation, course equivalency and units (I-20 application, agency list).
Exception
Institutions abroad with US regional accreditation, such as the American University of Paris or Rome, may not need an evaluation (International Student Application for Form I-20 (PDF)).

Translation and evaluation at Cerro Coso
Cerro Coso asks for both.
The required documents checklist on the international page ends with a note that all documents not in English must be translated before submission, which covers transcripts, certificates and financial documents such as the bank statement or affidavit of support.
The I-20 application then says all international transcripts must be evaluated by one of the agencies approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to determine regional accreditation, course equivalency and unit credit; transcripts from English-speaking institutions may need no translation, but still need the evaluation unless the institution holds US regional accreditation.
The Commission list includes WES, ECE, IERF, IEE, Josef Silny, SDR and The Evaluation Company, among others. Each sets its own translation rule; WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator. For the school record, see high school diploma translation.
Where Cerro Coso's pages differ
The main page asks only that documents be translated before submission (International students).
The FAQ answers the same question with official transcripts together with an English translation certified by an international evaluation service.
Deadlines also differ: the main page tells applicants to apply by April 15 for fall and October 15 for spring, and its table and the application list June 15 and November 1 from abroad (application).
Ask the International Student Team which applies before you order anything, and apply early.

Uploading the translation to Cerro Coso
Email the I-20 application with the translations attached to the International Student Team, with your last name, first name and Cerro Coso ID if you have one in the subject; mail official college transcripts directly to Admissions & Records, 3000 College Heights Blvd, Ridgecrest (International Student Application for Form I-20 (PDF), web page).
The translation also goes to the evaluation agency with your records; the agency sends its report to Cerro Coso.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Cerro Coso that means we translate your documents for the college and the agency; the evaluation by a Commission-approved agency is ordered by you.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do my documents need to be translated for Cerro Coso?
Yes. All documents not in English must be translated before submission (International students).
Do I also need a credential evaluation?
Yes, for all international transcripts, unless the institution holds US regional accreditation (International Student Application for Form I-20 (PDF)).
Which agencies are approved?
Those on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing list, such as WES, ECE and IERF (list).
What does the FAQ mean by a translation certified by an evaluation service?
The FAQ uses that wording (International students FAQ); the main page does not name a translator. Confirm with the International Student Team.
How long does the I-20 take?
One to two weeks after all documents are received (International Student Application for Form I-20 (PDF)).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
