Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from The BAC's public pages (sources).
Boston Architectural College publishes no translation rule of its own: applicants whose high school diploma or undergraduate degree is from outside the US submit a credential evaluation instead of the transcript, from ECE, IEE, The Evaluation Company or WES, or another NACES member.
The BAC's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IEE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; The Evaluation Company asks for an ATA-certified translator. The evaluation itself is something we do not produce.
The BAC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
The BAC asks for a credential evaluation from a recommended agency or any NACES member (undergraduate application), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES rule); ECE and IEE accept one as well, while The Evaluation Company asks for an ATA-certified translator. Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
- The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
- Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
- The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

The BAC requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; foreign records reach the BAC through the evaluation (Applying as an undergraduate).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; WES, ECE and IEE accept professional translations, TEC asks for ATA certification.
Undergraduate
A high school diploma from outside the US is replaced by a credential evaluation; an associate degree transcript replaces the high school one (Applying as an undergraduate).
Graduate
An undergraduate degree from outside the US is replaced by a credential evaluation (graduate application).
Agencies
Educational Credential Evaluators, International Education Evaluation (IEE), The Evaluation Company (TEC), World Education Services, or another NACES member (Applying as an undergraduate).
Other items
Design work (creative sample or portfolio), a letter of recommendation, an essay and English proficiency if needed (Applying as an undergraduate).
F-1 programs
Bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture and design studies; one online MDS does not sponsor F-1 (international students).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate.
ECE accepts complete, literal translations, including your own, or translates internally if you buy an $85 Translation Waiver, with no translation delivered.
IEE wants a certified translator, not the applicant or a notary public, and sells its own translations.
The Evaluation Company requires an outside translator certified by the American Translators Association, or translates itself.
If you choose TEC, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA for the languages ATA certifies: ask for a free quote and say it is for TEC.
With WES, ECE or IEE, a standard eVerbary certified translation is enough.
Undergraduate, transfer and graduate files
The same rule applies at every level: undergraduates, including transfer students, replace a foreign high school transcript with a credential evaluation, and graduate applicants do the same for a foreign undergraduate degree (Applying as an undergraduate; Applying as a graduate student).
Transfer students with an associate degree send that transcript instead of the high school one.
The BAC's portfolio requirement is flexible: applicants without design experience may send any creative sample, such as photographs or music, and those need no translation unless they include text you want read.

- Associate degree transcript, for transfer applicants
- Undergraduate degree certificate and transcripts, for graduate applicants
- Letters of recommendation written in another language
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to The BAC
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records; the agency's credential evaluation then goes to the BAC in place of the transcript (Applying as an undergraduate). Questions go to admissions@the-bac.edu (Applying as an undergraduate).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For the BAC that means we translate your diploma and transcripts; the credential evaluation is ordered by you from ECE, IEE, TEC, WES or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the BAC require a certified translation?
The BAC requires a credential evaluation (Applying as an undergraduate); the agency sets the translation rule. WES, for example, wants a professional translator (WES).
Which evaluation agencies does the BAC accept?
ECE, IEE, The Evaluation Company, WES, or any NACES member (Applying as an undergraduate).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for The Evaluation Company?
Yes, on request through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English.
Do graduate applicants need an evaluation?
Yes, if the undergraduate degree is from outside the US (Applying as a graduate student).
