How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

Adelphi University asks international applicants to send records issued in a language other than English with an English translation, and does not say who must make it.

Adelphi University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

When your applicant type requires it, and always for graduate applicants with undergraduate work outside the US, Adelphi also wants a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, which we do not provide.

Adelphi at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Adelphi's international requirements say records in another language "must be accompanied by an English translation" and do not say who must make it (international requirements), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Adelphi requirements in detail

Translation

Records issued in a language other than English must come with an English translation (International applicants: how to apply).

Who may translate

Not stated.

Evaluation

A course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member when your applicant type requires it; Adelphi recommends The Evaluation Company, IEE, ECE or WES and accepts any NACES member (International applicants: how to apply).

Graduate applicants

Everyone with undergraduate work outside the US sends a NACES course-by-course evaluation; the graduate guide mentions a discount for Adelphi applicants with TEC or IEE (Graduate application guide).

Official transcripts (graduate)

Sent by each institution directly to Adelphi, electronically or in a sealed envelope (Graduate application guide).

Transfer applicants

Unofficial college transcripts, including from colleges abroad, can be sent for an expedited decision; official ones are needed if you enroll (Transfer application guide).

Priority dates

November 1 and March 1; later applications are considered on a space-available basis. Deposit and I-20 request recommended by July 15 for fall and December 15 for spring (International applicants: how to apply).

Country rules

A country-by-country page lists the credentials and grading scales Adelphi most often receives.

Translation and evaluation are two separate steps

Adelphi lists them separately. Under "Academic Records" it asks for official records from the schools your applicant type requires and an English translation of any record not issued in English.

Under "Credential Evaluation" it asks for a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member "when required" for your applicant type (International applicants: how to apply).

The translation goes to Adelphi with your records; when you also need an evaluation, the agency receives the records under its own rules, and Adelphi notes that your school may be asked to send transcripts directly to the agency.

For graduate applicants the evaluation is not optional: anyone with undergraduate-level work completed outside the US must send one (Graduate application guide).

Graduate applicants may first submit an unofficial course-by-course evaluation so that review can continue, and send the official one before enrolling (International applicants: how to apply).

WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations made by applicants (WES).

ECE accepts a complete, literal, word-for-word translation and lets applicants translate their own documents, or sells an $85 waiver under which it translates for its report only (ECE).

IEE does not accept translations made by the applicant, a notary public or an uncertified translator (IEE).

The Evaluation Company takes outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association, or translates in-house after your application is complete (TEC). Because Adelphi accepts any NACES member, you can choose an agency whose translation rule suits you.

Three-year degrees and the country page

Adelphi reviews three-year bachelor's degrees against its international academic requirements and the standards of the program you apply to (International applicants: how to apply).

Its Academic Requirements by Country page lists, for each country, the common undergraduate and graduate credentials and grading scales it receives, and says the list is not complete and may change.

Translate the name of the diploma or degree exactly as issued, so admissions can match it against that page.

Need a certified translation for Adelphi?

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts and diplomas
  • College and university transcripts, including from colleges abroad
  • Degree certificates and proof of degree conferral
  • Mark sheets for three-year bachelor's degrees

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Adelphi

  • Undergraduate applicants apply through the Common Application or Adelphi's application and follow the requirements of their applicant type plus the international ones (International applicants: how to apply, transfer). Send each translation together with the record it belongs to.

  • Graduate applicants have their official transcripts sent directly from each institution, electronically or in a sealed envelope, and upload other materials in the application status portal (Graduate application guide).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Adelphi that means we translate your records; the NACES course-by-course evaluation, when required, is ordered from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Who can translate my documents for Adelphi?

Adelphi asks for an English translation and does not name who must make it (International applicants: how to apply). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation.

Do I need a course-by-course evaluation?

When your applicant type requires it, and always as a graduate applicant with undergraduate work outside the US (international, graduate).

Which evaluation agencies does Adelphi accept?

Any NACES member; it recommends The Evaluation Company, IEE, ECE or WES (International applicants: how to apply).

Can I send an unofficial evaluation first?

Graduate applicants can, while the official one is processed; the official evaluation is needed to enroll (International applicants: how to apply).

Does the evaluation agency need my translation too?

Each agency sets its own rule: WES wants a professional word-for-word translation (WES), while The Evaluation Company takes outside translations only from ATA-certified translators (TEC). Check the agency's rule before you order.

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
