Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Worth knowing about Indiana Medical Licensing Board

Indiana Medical Licensing Board requirements in detail

Translation

Transcripts, diplomas and other academic documents not in English need a certified English translation (Physicians licensing information).

Who may translate

The Board does not say. A certified translation from a professional service qualifies under its wording.

Diploma

A copy of the medical school diploma, with a certified translation if it is not in English (Physicians licensing information).

Transcript

An original official transcript from each medical school attended, showing the degree and date conferred, with a certified translation if it is not in English (Physicians licensing information).

FCVS

Not required and not endorsed; exam scores within an FCVS package are accepted (Physicians licensing information).

ECFMG

International graduates submit a copy of the ECFMG certificate, with a permanent validation sticker if it shows an expiration date (Physicians licensing information).

Training

Graduates of foreign schools need two years of ACGME, AOA or RCPSC accredited training in the US or Canada for the full license (Physicians licensing information).

One rule for every academic document

Indiana repeats its translation rule across license types: the physician license, the postgraduate and non-ECFMG training permits, the teaching permit, the limited scope permit and the International Trained Physician license all ask for a certified translation when the transcript or diploma is not in English (Physicians licensing information). The Board's FAQ widens it to any other academic document.

The Board reads the degree conferred and the date it was conferred from the transcript, so the translation must give both exactly as printed, together with every course and grade. We translate grades as recorded and do not convert them.

The International Trained Physician license

Physicians who trained abroad and have not completed accredited US or Canadian training may apply for the International Trained Physician license.

It asks for five years of full-time practice as a licensed physician out of the preceding six, a residency or similar training, an ECFMG certificate, good standing in the country of residence, and a written job offer from a health care facility in an underserved area (Physicians licensing information).

For this license you upload a copy of the official transcript or diploma, with a certified translation if it is not in English, or have them sent to pla3@pla.in.gov later (Physicians licensing information). Employment letters from employers abroad are part of the file too.

FCVS is a choice in Indiana

Unlike many boards, Indiana does not require FCVS and does not endorse it, though it accepts exam scores from an FCVS package (Physicians licensing information).

If you build an FCVS profile anyway, or apply for ECFMG certification, ECFMG asks for word-for-word translations by a professional translation service or an official, never by the applicant (ECFMG translation requirements); a certified translation from us serves both.

Need a certified translation for Indiana Medical Licensing Board?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Indiana Medical Licensing Board

  • Apply through the Professional Licensing Agency's online services and upload the copy of the document with its certified translation; for the International Trained Physician license, documents you cannot upload at once may be sent later to pla3@pla.in.gov (Physicians licensing information, Board home).

  • Official transcripts must reach the Board as originals; ask the Board whether the translation should travel with the transcript from your school or be uploaded by you (Physicians licensing information).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Indiana that means we translate your diploma, transcripts and supporting documents; we do not obtain your ECFMG certificate, exam reports or license verifications.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
