How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

The Georgia Composite Medical Board says a medical school transcript that is not in English requires a certified translation, and it does not say who must make it.

Georgia GCMB accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

The Board also requires an FCVS profile from FSMB and has schools send transcripts directly through NextRequest; we translate, but we cannot send records on behalf of your school.

Georgia GCMB at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

The Board's physician page says non-English transcripts "require certified translation" without naming a translator (physician licensing page), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Georgia GCMB requirements in detail

Translation

A non-English medical school transcript requires a certified translation (Physician licensing). The institutional license checklist asks for a certified English translation of transcripts in a foreign language (checklist).

Who may translate

The Board does not say. A certified translation from a professional service qualifies under its wording.

How the transcript arrives

Stage 2 documents, including the official medical school transcript with clear seals, are sent by third parties to NextRequest; the applicant cannot submit them (Physician licensing).

FCVS

Required, to retrieve all documents except the resume, citizenship form and background check (Physician licensing).

ECFMG

Foreign graduates submit ECFMG certification, which may be part of the FCVS profile (Physician licensing).

Training

Graduates of international or non-approved schools need at least three years of ACGME-accredited training (Physician licensing).

Uploads

GCMB is paperless; PDFs you upload must be 8½ × 11, clear and labeled with your full name (Physician licensing).

Your school sends the transcript, so plan the translation

Georgia splits the application in two.

You complete Stage 1 in the licensure gateway and upload your own documents; Stage 2 documents, among them the official medical school transcript, must be sent by third parties to the Board's NextRequest portal, and the Board says the applicant cannot submit them (Physician licensing).

The same line says a non-English transcript requires a certified translation.

The page does not say whether the translation must travel with the school's transcript or may be uploaded by you.

Before you order, ask the Board through NextRequest how it wants the translation to arrive; if the school must send it, give the school the translation PDF to attach.

We can only deliver the translation to you, not on your school's behalf.

FCVS and ECFMG carry most of the file

The Board requires an FCVS profile from FSMB to collect everything except your resume, citizenship affidavit and background check (Physician licensing), and foreign graduates also provide ECFMG certification, which may be part of that profile.

ECFMG has its own translation rule for documents uploaded to it: word for word, by a professional translation service or an official, never by the applicant (ECFMG translation requirements).

A certified translation from us is written to meet that rule too, so the same translation of your diploma or transcript can serve ECFMG and the Board.

Where Georgia GCMB's pages differ

An older Board form for graduates of US and Canadian schools, dated 2017, asks applicants to "include a certified copy" of the English translation with the transcript and tells FCVS users they need not send those items (Application checklist for US and Canadian medical school graduates, 2017 (Board PDF)).

The current physician page instead routes the transcript through NextRequest from the school (Physician licensing). Follow the current page, and confirm with the Board if you are unsure.

Need a certified translation for Georgia GCMB?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Medical school transcript, for the Board and for ECFMG
  • Medical school diploma, for ECFMG and FCVS
  • Foreign medical license verifications or good-standing letters
  • Marriage certificate or court order, if your name has changed
  • Passport or birth certificate pages, for identity documents

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Georgia GCMB

  • Upload documents you hold yourself to your application in the licensure gateway at gateway.medicalboard.georgia.gov, as clear 8½ × 11 PDFs labeled with your full name (Physician licensing).

  • The transcript and its translation follow the Stage 2 route, sent to NextRequest by your school (Physician licensing); ask the Board how it wants the translation to reach it. Documents collected by FCVS or ECFMG go to them under their own instructions.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Georgia that means we translate your records; your school sends the official transcript, and we do not order your FCVS profile or ECFMG certification.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
