The ZŤP card, and the percentage behind it
Slovakia issues a ZŤP card — for a person with severe disability — on the basis of an assessed degree of functional impairment expressed as a percentage, with 50% the threshold for severe disability status.
So the card records a status and the assessment behind it records a percentage. A US reader given only the card has the status and not the finding, and we name which document they hold.
The companion entitlement
The card may be issued with a companion entitlement marked, which is a separate finding about the need for accompaniment rather than a higher severity grade.
A US reader reading it as a degree is reading it wrongly. We translate the marking and its defined effect.
Invalidity is assessed separately
The social insurance agency assesses invalidity for pension purposes against a reduction in the ability to work, on its own scale, and a person may hold a ZŤP card and no invalidity pension.
They measure different things and we name the scheme each document belongs to.
The rodné číslo, and validity
Slovak documents carry the rodné číslo, encoding date of birth and sex, which identifies the person and does not change. We reproduce it including its slash.
