The same symbols, in euro
Slovak transfers use the variabilný symbol, konštantný symbol and špecifický symbol system inherited from the common Czechoslovak banking practice, so a statement line carries numeric codes rather than a free-text reference.
Slovakia adopted the euro in 2009, so a Slovak statement is in euro while a Czech one is in koruna. Statements spanning the changeover show both, and we reproduce each currency as printed.
The account number, and the IBAN
A Slovak account number is written with an optional prefix, a hyphen, the number and a four-digit bank code, and the IBAN beginning SK encodes all of it.
We reproduce the domestic format where the statement prints it and the IBAN alongside, because Slovak readers use one and foreign ones the other.
The decimal comma, and the amounts
Slovak numbers write a comma as the decimal separator with a space for thousands: 1 234,56 €. Carrying the punctuation across unchanged is an error of a factor of a thousand.
We convert the notation and name the currency. Pre-2009 documents state Slovak koruna and we reproduce the unit as printed rather than converting.
