Uznanie and obciążenie
Polish statements label each line uznanie (credit) or obciążenie (debit) rather than using signs or separate columns, and a reader who misses the label reverses the direction of the entry.
The tytuł or opis field carries a free-text reference that Polish payers use precisely, frequently with an invoice number or a month of rent. We translate every reference line.
The NRB, and the IBAN
A Polish account number is a 26-digit NRB, and the IBAN is the same number with PL in front. Statements print it in groups of four and the grouping is presentational.
We reproduce the digits exactly. Polish banks also print the recipient's and sender's addresses on transfer lines, which is unusually informative for a reader assessing a relationship.
Złoty, and the decimal comma
Poland uses the złoty, not the euro, and Polish numbers write a comma as the decimal separator with a space for thousands: 1 234,56 zł.
We convert the notation and name the currency. Many Poles also hold euro or dollar accounts and a statement states its currency in the header rather than beside each figure.
The zaświadczenie, and BLIK
Banks issue a zaświadczenie o posiadaniu rachunku — a certificate of account and balance on letterhead, stamped and signed — which is what a consulate generally requires alongside statements.
