The saobraćajna dozvola, in card format

Serbia issues a saobraćajna dozvola in ID-card format with a chip, together with a registracijska nalepnica — a windscreen sticker showing the registration validity.

The card holds the owner, the plate and the technical data; the sticker holds the expiry. A US reader shown the card alone cannot see whether the registration is current.

Annual renewal, and the sticker

Serbian registration is renewed annually with a technical inspection and compulsory insurance, and the sticker carries the date.

A card with an expired sticker means a lapsed registration, not a lost car. We translate the sticker as part of the document set.

The transfer, and the notary

A used vehicle sale requires a contract with notarially certified signatures, and the buyer registers within a short deadline at the police administration.

A plain unsigned bill of sale will not do. We name the certifying notary and the date.

The JMBG, and two alphabets

Owners are identified by JMBG, thirteen digits encoding date of birth, region and sex, or a company by its registration number.

Serbian is written in both Cyrillic and Latin and documents mix them. See our Serbian page.

Ordering, and what the certification covers

Upload the document, choose certified translation at $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, and it comes back typically within 24 hours as a PDF formatted to mirror the original, with a signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead. Marginal annotations are translated in place, in the margin, and every seal, stamp and registry endorsement is translated with the text. See how we translate and certified versus standard.
