Proof that the car changed hands
A contrato de compraventa, a factura, a Kaufvertrag, a certificat de cession — whatever it is called, it records who sold the vehicle to whom, when, and for how much. States ask for it when a car arrives without a US title, customs asks for it at import, and it is the document that establishes the value the vehicle is taxed on.
Many countries notarize vehicle sales, so what arrives is often a notarial instrument with a protocol number, seals and a closing formula. All of that is translated with the contract; it is what makes the instrument authentic on its face.
The price stays in the currency it was paid in
A translation that converts pesos or yen into dollars invents two things at once: a number nobody agreed to and an exchange rate nobody cited. Amounts are reproduced exactly, in the original currency, and the date they were agreed on is reproduced beside them so whoever needs a conversion can do it against the right day.
The same goes for odometer readings in kilometres, engine displacement in cubic centimetres and weights in kilograms. Units are kept as written.
Handwriting, which is most of them
Private vehicle sales are frequently written by hand on a pre-printed form, in a hurry, on the bonnet of the car being sold. We translate every legible entry and mark anything that genuinely cannot be read as illegible rather than guessing — a guessed digit in a chassis number or a sale price is exactly the kind of thing that stops a registration.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where a page is up to 250 words.
A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at $0.10 per word.
Frequently asked questions
Do you convert the sale price into US dollars?
No. The amount and currency are reproduced as written, with the date of sale beside them.
My contract is handwritten and partly hard to read.
We translate everything legible and mark the rest as illegible. Nothing is invented to fill a gap.
Is the notary block translated too?
Yes. The protocol number, seals and closing formula are part of the document and are translated with it.
