Part I and Part II of the registration certificate
Bulgaria issues a свидетелство за регистрация in two parts: Part I, the card carried in the vehicle, and Part II, the sheet kept by the owner and required for a transfer.
A missing Part II is a genuine obstacle. Both are needed and we name which the file holds.
The sale must be notarised
A Bulgarian vehicle sale requires a contract with the signatures notarially certified, and for vehicles the notary also checks that local vehicle tax is paid.
A private signed contract does not transfer a Bulgarian vehicle. The notary's certification and register number are on the document and we reproduce them.
The annual tax, and the inspection
Municipal vehicle tax must be paid before a transfer or an annual inspection, and the technical inspection (годишен технически преглед) produces its own certificate.
Unpaid tax is the commonest blocker, and the clearance is what a buyer relies on. We translate it.
The EGN, and the plate codes
Owners are identified by EGN, ten digits encoding date of birth and sex, sometimes with a leading zero, or a company by its UIC.
