Eighteen digits in three blocks
A Serbian account number is eighteen digits written as three blocks — three for the bank, thirteen for the account and two as a check — separated by hyphens.
Serbia is outside the euro area and not in SEPA on the same terms as EU members, so international transfers use SWIFT and the statement shows the bank's SWIFT code. We reproduce each identifier as labelled.
Dinar, and foreign currency accounts
Serbia uses the dinar, and many Serbians hold parallel euro accounts, with foreign currency savings being a long-standing habit. A statement states its currency in the header.
Serbian numbers write a comma as the decimal separator and a point for thousands. We convert the notation and name the currency on the first line.
Two alphabets, one holder
Serbian is written in both Cyrillic and Latin and both are official, so a name appears one way on a bank statement and another on an identity document.
That is one name in one language in two alphabets and it is the commonest false alarm in a Serbian file. We state the equivalence rather than leaving an office comparing spellings.
The potvrda, and remittances
Banks issue a potvrda — a certificate of account and balance on letterhead, stamped and signed — which is what a consulate generally requires.
