The pound moved a very long way
Egypt floated the pound in 2016 and devalued sharply again through 2022 and 2024, so the dollar value of an Egyptian pound balance changed by a large multiple within a few years.
A statement from 2015 and one from 2024 showing the same pound figure represent very different sums. We reproduce the currency and any rate the statement prints and do not convert, because a conversion at the wrong date is meaningless.
Pound and dollar accounts
Egyptians commonly hold parallel Egyptian pound and US dollar accounts, and foreign currency savings have been a long-standing habit. A statement states its currency in the header.
So a household's position may sit largely in a dollar account and a reader looking only at the pound statement will understate it. We name the currency on the first line of every statement we translate.
The stamp, and the certificate
An Egyptian bank statement for a formal purpose is stamped and signed at the branch, and banks issue a separate balance certificate on letterhead — which is what a consulate generally requires.

Egyptian financial documents carry the holder's fourteen-digit national number, which encodes the century and date of birth and the governorate of registration and does not change.
