Ustav, and the EGRUL extract
A Russian company is constituted by ustav (устав), the charter, and entered in the EGRUL — the unified state register of legal entities. The register extract, the vypiska iz EGRUL, is what a foreign counterparty normally needs: it shows the current directors, the participants, the capital and the declared activities.
Extracts are dated and go stale quickly, and a foreign office receiving one issued months earlier will frequently refuse it as evidence of current standing.
OGRN and INN are different numbers
A Russian company carries the OGRN (основной государственный регистрационный номер), its registration number in EGRUL, and the INN, its taxpayer number, plus a KPP code identifying the tax registration reason. All three appear on corporate documents and all three are confused by foreign readers.
Each is reproduced exactly and labelled as the document labels it. None is translated.
OOO and AO
The obshchestvo s ogranichennoy otvetstvennostyu (ООО) is the limited liability company and by far the commonest form; the aktsionernoye obshchestvo (АО) is the joint-stock form, with public and non-public variants since the 2014 reform that abolished the old OAO and ZAO designations.
Older documents still carry ОАО and ЗАО, which no longer exist as forms, and that is a dating signal rather than an error. We keep the Russian designation with a literal rendering.
The general director, and documents from abroad
The general director (генеральный директор) is the sole executive body and normally the only person who binds the company without a power of attorney. Anyone else signs under a doverennost, which is a separate notarial document — see powers of attorney.

What is a vypiska iz EGRUL?
The register extract showing the company's current state. It is what foreign counterparties normally need, and it goes stale quickly.
OGRN or INN?
OGRN is the registration number, INN the taxpayer number, KPP the tax registration reason code. All three appear and all three are reproduced as labelled.
My document says ОАО.
That form was abolished in 2014. It dates the document rather than indicating an error.
Can anyone but the general director sign?
Only under a notarial power of attorney, which is a separate document.
