A lawyer countersigns, or a notary records
Hungarian practice has an institution with no US equivalent: a private document gains full evidential force when countersigned by a lawyer (ügyvédi ellenjegyzés), and for land registry filings that countersignature or a notarial deed is required.
So a Hungarian power may carry a lawyer's countersignature rather than a notary's seal, and it is not a lesser instrument. We name the lawyer, their chamber registration and the countersignature.
Consular powers, and the diaspora
Hungarian consulates exercise notarial functions, and with simplified naturalisation having produced very large numbers of Hungarian citizens abroad, consular powers are common in these files.
A power signed before a foreign notary needs an apostille and a certified Hungarian translation, which in Hungary is reserved to the state translation office for many official purposes. We say so.
Property, and the land registry
Hungarian property is identified by its topographical lot number and settlement, and the land registry examines the power against the filing.
A power that does not cover the specific act or identify the property adequately is refused. We reproduce the property reference exactly.
Surname first, and the identifiers
Hungarian writes the family name before the given name, so a power naming Nagy István concerns István Nagy. We make the order explicit.
