Certified signature, or a notarial deed
A Czech power (plná moc) may be a private document, may carry an officially verified signature (úředně ověřený podpis), or may be a notarial deed, and the act determines which is required.
Land registry filings require a verified signature at minimum. Signature verification is available at notaries, at Czech Point offices in post offices and municipalities, and at embassies — which is unusually accessible and worth knowing.
Czech Point, and where the stamp comes from
The Czech Point network verifies signatures and issues certified copies at post offices and municipal offices, so a Czech power may carry a post office stamp rather than a notary's.
A US reader seeing a post office endorsement on a legal instrument may discount it. It is an official verification and we name the office and the entry number.
Powers granted abroad
A power signed in the United States for use in the Czech Republic is signed before a US notary and apostilled, and then needs a certified Czech translation by a court-appointed translator.

The rodné číslo, and the -ová
Parties are identified by name, birth number and address, and a company by its IČO with the representation rule from the commercial register.
A woman's surname carries the feminine -ová ending unless she elected otherwise, so a married couple's surnames differ. See our Czech page.
