Bangladesh registers births through a national online system, and certificates are issued with Bangla and English side by side, carrying a long registration number that is the identifier tying the record to everything else.

Registration was not comprehensive for a long time, so many adults have no contemporaneous record and hold a certificate registered decades after the birth.
