Dram figures, and the parallel accounts
Armenia uses the dram, whose figures run to six and seven digits for ordinary amounts, and Armenians commonly hold parallel dram, US dollar, euro and Russian rouble accounts.
The rouble account is the one a US reader does not expect, and it reflects long-standing labour migration to Russia. A statement states its currency in the header and we name it on the first line.
Remittances, and the 2022 inflow
Remittances are a very large share of Armenian household income, historically from Russia and increasingly from the United States and Europe, and statements show them as regular inbound transfers.
Armenia also received a substantial inflow of people and money from Russia from 2022, so a statement may show account activity beginning abruptly that year. That is relocation rather than anything irregular.
The social security number, and the IBAN
Armenian financial documents carry the holder's social security number used across state systems, and accounts are identified by an Armenian IBAN beginning AM.

The certificate, and the alphabet
Banks issue a certificate of account and balance on letterhead, stamped and signed, which is what a consulate generally requires alongside statements.
Armenian has its own alphabet and no single accepted romanisation, and surnames ending -յան appear as -yan or -ian. One family name, and it is the commonest apparent discrepancy. See our Armenian page.
