How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
WPI asks transfer applicants for English translations and NACES course-by-course credit evaluations of all non-US transcripts, and graduate applicants to upload the transcript in its original language together with an English translation; neither page says who must translate.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
The transfer evaluation comes from a NACES agency, which we are not, and WPI's first-year pages publish no translation rule of their own.
WPI at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
WPI's transfer requirements ask for "English translations" of all non-US transcripts (transfer requirements) and its graduate page for "an English translation" next to the original (graduate international page), without restricting who makes them; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Worth knowing about WPI
Original plus translation
Graduate uploads show both language versions.
NACES for transfer
Course-by-course credit evaluation of every non-US transcript.
Uploads only
Mailed graduate paper documents are discarded.
WPI requirements in detail
Translation (transfer)
English translations of all non-US transcripts, plus English-translated course descriptions and possibly syllabi for credit review (requirements, transfer credit).
Translation (graduate)
A copy of the original-language transcript and an English translation, uploaded to the application (Graduate international applicants).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Evaluation
Transfer: NACES course-by-course credit evaluation required (Transfer admissions requirements). Graduate: optional; WPI accepts only NACES reports and offers a discount through The Evaluation Company (Graduate international applicants).
First-year
No translation rule published; your school sends transcripts directly and credentials sent by students are discarded (How to apply (first-year, wpi.edu)).
Unofficial first
Graduate deadlines
Many programs: January 1 for full fall consideration; October 31 is the last day to start a spring application (Graduate application requirements).
Transfer: translation, evaluation and course descriptions
WPI asks transfer applicants with college work outside the US for two things for every non-US transcript: an English translation and a course-by-course credit evaluation from a current NACES member (Transfer admissions requirements).
For credit, WPI faculty evaluators also review your courses one by one, so you send English-translated course descriptions, and possibly syllabi, for each course you want considered (Transfer credit).
Unofficial transcripts are enough for the application review; admitted applicants who enroll send final official transcripts (Transfer admissions requirements).
Order the translation first: the NACES agency evaluates the translated records, and the translated course descriptions go to WPI for the faculty review.
Graduate: both languages, uploaded
WPI's graduate international page asks every international applicant to upload a copy of the original transcript in the official language together with an English translation; all credentials are uploaded electronically, and paper documents mailed in are discarded (Graduate international applicants).
Several program pages repeat that transcripts are needed in English and in the original language from every degree-granting institution (Graduate application requirements).
An evaluation is optional.
WPI says applicants with a degree from outside the US or Canada may consider a third-party evaluation of bachelor's equivalency and GPA, accepts reports only from NACES members, and has a partnership with The Evaluation Company (formerly SpanTran) for a discounted evaluation (Graduate international applicants).
Enrolled students then have final official transcripts delivered, mailed or emailed by the institution to grad@wpi.edu.
First-year applicants
WPI's first-year pages describe the Common Application, official high school transcripts submitted directly by your school, and English proficiency for international students, but say nothing about translations (how to apply, international students).
WPI also warns that credentials sent in by the student are not official and will be discarded. If your school issues records in another language, ask WPI Undergraduate Admissions how it wants the translation sent before you order.
Need a certified translation for WPI?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- College or university transcripts, for the NACES evaluation
- Course descriptions and syllabi for each course you want credited
- University transcripts and degree certificates, for graduate applicants
- Mark sheets from each year, when your university issues them
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to WPI
Transfer applicants send the translations with their records to the NACES agency and the translated course descriptions to WPI with the application (requirements, transfer credit).
Graduate applicants upload the original-language transcript and the translation in the online application; nothing is mailed (Graduate international applicants).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For WPI that means we translate your transcripts and course descriptions; the NACES course-by-course evaluation for transfer applicants, or an optional graduate evaluation, comes from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for WPI?
WPI's transfer and graduate pages ask for English translations without saying who must make them (transfer, graduate). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do WPI transfer applicants need an evaluation?
Yes, a course-by-course credit evaluation from a current NACES member for all non-US transcripts (Transfer admissions requirements).
Do my course descriptions need translation?
Yes, for each course you want reviewed for credit, and syllabi may be requested (Transfer credit).
Is a credential evaluation required for WPI graduate admission?
No; it is optional, WPI accepts only NACES reports, and it offers a discount through The Evaluation Company (Graduate international applicants).
Can I mail my graduate documents?
No. Graduate credentials are uploaded electronically, and mailed paper documents are discarded (Graduate international applicants).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
