What Wichita State asks for
TranslationRequired for transcripts not in English: an official translation in the same format, with the translator's original stamp and/or signature (source).
Who may translateA qualified translator. Translations by students are not accepted (source). Transfer students whose school will not attest an English copy send an attested original plus a translation attested by the official translator who made it (source).
Official transcriptsOriginal, or a photocopy with the original stamp and/or signature of a school official, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Education, another government authority or EducationUSA; never stamped "Issued to student" (source).
EvaluationNo outside evaluation is mentioned; Wichita State reviews records against its country-by-country requirements.
Where to uploadThe application portal, which also lists missing documents (how to apply).
TimingFinal official records after admission, on arrival at the latest; without them you can enroll for one semester only. Scanned transcripts are destroyed (source).
GraduateUploaded copies for review; if admitted, attested copies by mail or in person by the 20th day of classes (catalog, graduate transcripts).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. The international transcript requirements accept a translation carrying the stamp and/or signature "of a qualified translator" and exclude only translations by students (transcript requirements), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. A translation in the same format, signed by a qualified translator

Wichita State's rule has two parts that applicants often miss. The translation must be "in the same format" as the original, so a transcript laid out as a grid of subjects and terms should be translated as the same grid. And it must carry the original stamp and/or signature of a qualified translator; a translation you make yourself is rejected (source). Our certified translations keep the layout of the source document and end with a signed certification.

The country sections add their own lines. Chinese senior middle school results and the graduation certificate should be issued in both English and Chinese by the school; Jordan's Tawjihi is required in English as issued by the Ministry of Education; for the Democratic Republic of Congo, results in English and French or the Relevé de Notes from the Ministry. For Bangladesh and the Bahamas, among others, notary attestations of transcripts are not accepted (country requirements).

Transfer credit: attested translations, and syllabi you may translate yourself

Transfer credit starts only after admission. If your school will not attest an English copy of your transcript, Wichita State accepts an officially attested copy in the original language together with an English translation attested by the official translator who made it (transfer credit).

Syllabi follow a different rule. When the Office of International Education asks for them, they must be in English, one PDF per course, covering the same term you took the course, and sent to intltransfer.eval@wichita.edu; here, students may translate syllabi themselves if the school offers no English version. Departments compare them with Wichita State courses, which can take two months or longer.

Graduate admission: copies first, attested copies later

Graduate programs review the copies you upload, from at least the sixth semester of a four-year degree. If admitted, you provide official copies of your transcripts translated into English, and the remaining transcripts and degree certificate by the 20th day of your first semester, or a hold blocks later enrollment (graduate catalog).

The graduate transcripts page adds that foreign transcripts must bear an original stamp or seal of the issuing school, that plain or notarized copies are not acceptable, and that photocopies must be attested with an original signature and stamp or seal in English from the issuing school. Official documents come by mail or with you to the US, not by email or upload. Program requirements are listed on each program's page (international graduate page).

Uploading the translation to Wichita State

Undergraduates upload the financial certification, bank statement, transcripts with their translations, test scores and passport page in the application portal, and check the same portal for missing items (how to apply). The catalog lists official copies in English of all transcripts among the application requirements (catalog).

Final official records can be mailed before you arrive or presented in Wichita; sending them early speeds up check-in and transfer credit (source).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Wichita State that means we translate your records; the attestation of the transcript itself comes from your school, a ministry or EducationUSA.

Frequently asked questions

Can I translate my own transcripts for Wichita State?

No. Translations by students are not accepted; the translation needs the original stamp and/or signature of a qualified translator (source).

What does "in the same format" mean?

That the translation reproduces the layout of the original, so each line of the translation can be matched with the transcript. We keep the structure of the source document.

Can I translate my syllabi myself?

Yes. For syllabi only, students may translate them if the school has no English version (source).

Can a notary attest my transcript copies?

No. Several country sections reject notary attestations, and the graduate page says notarized copies are not acceptable (undergraduate, graduate).

When are graduate official documents due?

By the 20th day of classes of your first semester; after that a hold restricts enrollment (source).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
