Weber State University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

Weber State University asks international applicants for official transcripts and a diploma, with a certified translation into English when they are in another language, and its catalog asks for the original-language records plus a certified English translation; neither says who must translate. Weber State University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Credit for college work done outside the US also needs a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member, which we do not provide.

Weber State requirements at a glance

Weber State University: requirements for documents in another language
What Weber State asks for
TranslationOfficial transcripts and a diploma showing the completion date, with a certified translation into English if needed (source). The catalog: send records in the original language and a certified English translation (catalog).
Who may translateNot stated. The rule names the kind of translation (certified), not the translator.
Evaluation for creditOnly to receive credit for college work outside the US: a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member; Weber points to TEC (formerly SpanTran), which offers a discounted custom application and sends the result to WSU (source).
Foreign-college transfersTreated as freshmen until the credential evaluation report is received and entered in your record (catalog).
West AfricaInclude a WAEC Scratch Card with your transcripts (source).
Graduate applicantsThe graduate program admits you first; the ISSC then processes the I-20 from documents emailed to intladmissions@weber.edu (source).
Bank documentsThe bank statement or bank letter must be in English, signed or stamped by a bank official (source).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. Weber State's International Student & Scholar Center asks for transcripts and a diploma with a "certified translation into English, if necessary" (new international student admissions), and the catalog asks for a certified English translation (catalog), without limiting who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. High school applicants: translation only; college credit: an evaluation too

Weber's International Student & Scholar Center (ISSC) runs international admission. For a new student the academic file is short: official transcripts, a diploma showing the date of completion, and a certified English translation when they are in another language; high school records are not needed if you have passed 30 degree-seeking credits at an accredited US college. West African applicants add a WAEC Scratch Card so Weber can verify the results (new international student admissions).

If you also studied at a college or university outside the US and want credit for it, Weber asks for a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member. Its own page highlights TEC (formerly SpanTran), which built a custom application for Weber with a discounted rate and sends the completed evaluation straight to WSU (foreign credentials evaluation). The catalog adds the consequence of skipping it: a student transferring from a school outside the US is considered a freshman until the evaluation report is in the record (catalog). The evaluator usually works from translated records, so the same certified translation can serve both; see translation for credential evaluation.

F-1 applicants and Utah residents with foreign records

Students who need a visa, and international students transferring from another US school, use the international application (transfer students). Immigrants without citizenship or a green card, refugees and asylees apply through the domestic application instead, with access to in-state tuition under Utah's HB 144 or HB 102; those pages do not describe a translation rule (immigrant students). The catalog's rule for documents in another language sits in its international students section, so if you apply as a domestic student with foreign records, ask Admissions which version it wants.

Where Weber State's pages differ

Deadlines for students applying from outside the US are not the same on two Weber pages. The ISSC lists Nov. 11, 2026 for spring 2027 and June 30, 2027 for fall 2027 (ISSC deadlines); the Admissions page for international students lists Oct. 30 for spring and June 24 for fall (Admissions page). We have not resolved the difference; the earlier date is the safe one for having translations ready.

For graduate applicants, the catalog says international transcripts must come with a professional degree and transcript evaluation sent directly to the graduate program by a WSU-approved service (catalog), while the ISSC graduate page lists a foreign credentials evaluation only among documents that may be required, to receive credit (ISSC graduate admissions). Programs set their own admission requirements, so check with yours.

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to Weber State

Undergraduate international applicants upload all documents, including the certified translation, through the ISSC online application portal (source). If you need credit for foreign college work, the evaluation agency sends its report to Weber directly.

Graduate applicants apply to their program through the Office of Graduate Studies; once admitted, they email the I-20 documents to intladmissions@weber.edu (source).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Weber State that means we translate your transcripts, diplomas and bank letters; the course-by-course evaluation for foreign college credit comes from TEC or another NACES or AICE member.

Frequently asked questions

Who can translate my documents for Weber State?

Weber asks for a certified translation into English and does not say who must make it (source). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary fits that wording.

Do I need a credential evaluation for my high school diploma?

No. The evaluation is for credit from colleges or universities outside the US (source, evaluation services).

Which evaluation company should I use?

Any NACES or AICE member, course-by-course. Weber highlights TEC, which offers a discounted rate and sends the evaluation to WSU (source).

What happens if I transfer from a foreign university without an evaluation?

The catalog says you are considered a freshman until the evaluation report is received and entered in your record (source).

Does my bank letter need to be in English?

Yes. Weber asks for a bank statement or letter in English, with a bank official's signature or stamp (source).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
