Wake Forest University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Wake Forest University asks international undergraduates for certified transcripts from every secondary school, college or university attended, translated into English when necessary with the sealed originals attached, and transfer applicants must have all official transcripts translated; it does not say who must translate. Wake Forest University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The Graduate School is stricter: it wants transcripts translated by your university or an evaluation service such as WES, and the MBA asks for a WES or IEE evaluation, which we do not provide.
Sealed and attached
The translation goes with the sealed original transcript.
Four years of records
Courses and grades for at least four years of school.
Citizenship decides
International status depends on citizenship, not on where you study.
Wake Forest requirements at a glance
| What Wake Forest asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | Undergraduate: transcripts translated into English if necessary, with the originals sealed and attached; transfer applicants must have all official transcripts translated (Undergraduate admissions: international students). |
| Who may translate | Not stated for undergraduates. |
| What the records must show | Certified transcripts from each secondary school, college or university attended, covering at least four years of schooling, with courses taken and grades received (Undergraduate admissions: international students). |
| Graduate School of Arts and Sciences | Transcripts translated into English by your university or a credential evaluation service such as WES; transcripts, certificates or diplomas translated by the student are not accepted (Graduate School: international applicants, acceptance checklist). |
| MBA | If the transcript is not in English, an official evaluation from World Education Services or International Education Evaluations (School of Business: MBA application process). |
| Law (LL.M.) | Transcripts in the native language and in English, with an explanation of the grading system; recommendation letters in English or with a translation (School of Law: LL.M. admissions process). |
| Who counts as international | Citizenship decides; green card holders apply as US citizens (Undergraduate admissions: international students). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. Wake Forest's undergraduate admissions page asks for transcripts "translated into English" with the originals sealed and attached, and does not limit who translates them (international admissions); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences sets a different rule: translation by your university or a credential evaluation service such as WES, never by the student (Graduate School). Undergraduate: a translation attached to the sealed original
Wake Forest asks every international applicant for certified transcripts from each secondary school, college or university attended. It needs a record of at least four years of schooling, with detailed information on the courses taken and the grades received, and when a transcript is not in English it should be translated with the originals sealed and attached (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
In practice the translation travels with the sealed transcript rather than replacing it, so order the translation from a copy and leave the official envelope closed. Because Wake Forest reads four years of courses and grades, the translation should cover every year the school reports, with the grading scale it prints.
Transfer applicants
Any international student who has received credit from a post-secondary institution applies as a transfer student, even to start with first-year status or with no credit transferred. Transfer applicants submit the Dean's Statement for Transfer Students, must have all official transcripts translated into English, and have no guarantee of credit transfer; Wake Forest offers no financial or scholarship assistance to international transfer applicants (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
Graduate and professional schools: stricter, and not all alike
The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences asks for transcripts translated into English by your university or by a credential evaluation service such as WES, and says that transcripts, degree certificates or diplomas translated by the student will not be accepted (Graduate School: international applicants). After acceptance, official transcripts must come directly from the degree-granting institution, signed and sealed, or as e-transcripts through Parchment or the Clearinghouse (acceptance checklist).
The School of Business asks for an official evaluation from WES or IEE when a transcript is not in English. The School of Law wants LL.M. transcripts in the native language and in English, with an explanation of the grading system, and accepts recommendation letters in English or with an English translation.
Where Wake Forest's graduate pages differ
The Graduate School's international page and its acceptance checklist accept transcripts translated by your university or by an evaluation service such as WES. Its other needed materials page says that a transcript not in English requires an official evaluation from WES or International Education Evaluations. We have not resolved that difference; ask the Graduate School before you order.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Wake Forest
Undergraduates apply through the Common App, the Coalition Application or a similar platform, with the Secondary School Report, a recommendation and an English proficiency score; translations go with the certified transcripts they belong to, the originals sealed and attached (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
LL.M. applicants can apply through LSAC, sending all supporting documents there, or through the Wake Forest Law application (School of Law: LL.M. admissions process).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Wake Forest that means we translate the transcripts and letters; the WES or IEE evaluation the MBA asks for, and a translation the Graduate School wants from your university, come from those sources.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for Wake Forest undergraduate admission?
The admissions office asks for transcripts translated into English and does not name a translator type (Undergraduate admissions: international students). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do I send the translation instead of the original?
No. Wake Forest asks for the translation with the originals sealed and attached (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
Can I translate my own transcripts for the Graduate School?
No. The Graduate School does not accept transcripts, degree certificates or diplomas translated by the student (Graduate School: international applicants).
Does the Wake Forest MBA accept a translation?
For a transcript not in English, the School of Business asks for an official evaluation from WES or IEE (School of Business: MBA application process).
I have a green card. Do I apply as an international student?
No. Wake Forest bases international status on citizenship and treats permanent residents as US citizens for admission (Undergraduate admissions: international students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
