The University of Texas at El Paso asks for certified English translations of transcripts not in English, made by the school, an American consulate or a certified English translator; its admissions page exempts transcripts in Spanish, while its catalog does not.

Graduate applicants with foreign university credit also need a course-by-course evaluation, through UTEP's partner IEE, which is ordered from the agency and not from us.
UTEP at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
UTEP's undergraduate catalog accepts certified English translations by "a certified English translator" (international admission), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it.
For graduate applicants, UTEP asks for a certified English translation with the originals (graduate timelines). Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Worth knowing about UTEP
Spanish: pages differ
The admissions page exempts Spanish; the catalog does not.
Certified translator
School, US consulate or a certified English translator.
IEE for graduates
$100 partner rate, course-by-course with a US GPA.
UTEP requirements in detail
Translation (undergraduate)
Transcripts not in English need certified English translations (catalog); the admissions page says this applies to languages other than English or Spanish (admissions).
Who may translate
The educational institution, an American consulate, or a certified English translator (Catalog: international student admission).
When to translate
Foreign transcripts must be translated before they are submitted to UTEP (How to apply: international students).
Official records
Transcripts must come directly from the schools; copies and faxes are unofficial. Copies certified by the school or a US consulate may be sent first, with originals validated on arrival (admissions, catalog).
Evaluation (graduate)
Applicants with foreign university credit need a detailed course-by-course evaluation with a US GPA; UTEP's partner is International Education Evaluations (IEE), at a $100 partner rate (Graduate School: applicant timelines).
Translation (graduate)
All transcripts and academic documents must be in English, or come with a certified English translation and the originals; UTEP says the IEE report satisfies this (Graduate School: degrees and programs).
Where to send
Undergraduate: Office of Admissions & Recruitment, 102 Academic Services Building, El Paso, TX 79968 (How to apply: international students). Graduate official transcripts: gradschooladmissions@utep.edu or the Graduate School by mail (Graduate School: applicant timelines).
Spanish-language records: where UTEP's pages differ
UTEP's international admissions page says that transcripts in languages other than English or Spanish must come with a certified English translation, which reads as an exemption for Spanish records.
The undergraduate catalog says all transcripts in languages other than English need certified English translations, with no exception.
UTEP also lets Spanish-speaking applicants qualify with the Prueba de Aptitud Académica and enroll in its bilingual PIE program (Catalog: international student admission).
We have not resolved this difference for you. If your records are in Spanish, ask the Office of Admissions & Recruitment whether it wants a translation before you send them; a certified translation satisfies both versions of the rule.
Graduate applicants: the IEE report and the translation
The Graduate School asks every applicant with foreign university credit for a detailed course-by-course evaluation with a US GPA; summaries are not accepted.
UTEP partners with International Education Evaluations (IEE), a NACES member, at a $100 rate with reports in 3 to 5 business days through a UTEP-specific link (Graduate School: applicant timelines).
UTEP adds that the IEE report satisfies its English requirement because it is issued in English (Graduate School: degrees and programs).
That does not remove the translation from the process: IEE has to read your records first.
IEE does not accept translations by the applicant, a notary public or an uncertified translator; it accepts a certified translator's work, and sells its own translation at $60 per page (IEE FAQ).
Three-year bachelor's degrees in commerce, arts or science from India and Pakistan are not treated as equal to a US bachelor's (Graduate School: applicant timelines).

- Bank letters for the Certification of Financial Responsibility required before the I-20
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UTEP
Undergraduates apply through ApplyTexas; transcripts come directly from each school, already translated, to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment in El Paso (How to apply: international students, catalog).
Graduate applicants upload unofficial transcripts with the application; after admission, official transcripts go directly from the institution to gradschooladmissions@utep.edu or by mail, and the IEE report goes to UTEP from the agency (Graduate School: applicant timelines).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UTEP that means we translate your records; the graduate course-by-course evaluation comes from IEE or another recognized service, and official transcripts come from your school.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for UTEP?
The school, an American consulate or a certified English translator (Catalog: international student admission). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do my Spanish transcripts need a translation?
UTEP's admissions page says only languages other than English or Spanish need one (How to apply: international students), but the catalog requires it for all non-English transcripts (Catalog: international student admission). Ask admissions before you send them.
Does the IEE evaluation replace the translation for graduate admission?
UTEP says the IEE report satisfies its English requirement (Graduate School: degrees and programs), but IEE needs a certified translation of non-English documents to evaluate them, or translates them itself for a fee (IEE).
Can I send copies first?
Yes, copies certified by the school, college, university or a US consulate, with the originals validated when you arrive (Catalog: international student admission).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
