The University of Texas at Dallas: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
The University of Texas at Dallas requires a certified English translation, submitted with the original-language document, for every academic credential not issued in English, at undergraduate and graduate level. Translations may come from the academic institution, a certified translation company or an authorized government agency. The University of Texas at Dallas accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. UT Dallas evaluates foreign credentials itself and says outside evaluations are not required or accepted for graduate admission, so you do not need to buy a WES or ECE report.
Evaluates in-house

UT Dallas requirements at a glance
| What UT Dallas asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | A certified English translation with the original-language document, for undergraduate and graduate applicants (undergraduate, graduate). |
| Who may translate | The academic institution or a certified translation company (source); the catalog adds an authorized governmental agency (catalog), and the graduate guide adds the Ministry of Education or another authorized translation authority (source). |
| Evaluation | Graduate: outside credential evaluations are not required or accepted (source). Undergraduate and transfer: UT Dallas evaluates foreign credentials itself (catalog), with a $75 international credential evaluation fee where applicable (transfer process). |
| Graduate uploads | Copies of official transcripts, mark sheets and degree certificates in the original language, with certified translations, uploaded with the application (source). |
| After admission (graduate) | Official final documents come directly from the issuing institution and are compared with your uploads; missing documents can cause registration holds (source). |
| Transfer records | Attested or certified copies of all university transcripts or semester mark sheets (consolidated ones not accepted), the degree certificate, and course syllabi or descriptions (source). |
| Timing (undergraduate) | The catalog urges sending all materials at least six months before you plan to enroll (source). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. UT Dallas accepts translations from a certified translation company at undergraduate level (international applicants) and graduate level (required foreign credentials), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. No outside evaluation: UT Dallas does it
UT Dallas's graduate admissions office states that outside credential evaluations are not required or accepted for admission; its Office of Admission and Enrollment evaluates foreign credentials itself (source). A WES ICAP appears only as one of the electronic channels for delivering official documents after admission, not as an evaluation. Undergraduates with foreign credentials are evaluated in-house too (catalog), and the transfer application lists a $75 international credential evaluation fee where it applies (source).
For applicants this means the money normally spent on an evaluation report is not needed for UT Dallas. What UT Dallas reads is the original-language record and its certified English translation, so the translation has to carry every course, mark and note as it appears.
Graduate applicants: upload now, verified later
Graduate applicants upload copies of their official or original transcripts, mark sheets and degree certificates in the original language, together with certified English translations (source). After admission, the official final documents must come directly from the issuing institution, through JST, the National Student Clearinghouse, SPEEDE, WES ICAP or sealed mail, and UT Dallas compares them with the uploads; falsified or altered documents can cancel admission (source).
The Required Foreign Credentials guide lists, country by country, which documents are needed, whether English and original-language versions are both required, and which body may issue official documents: for China, transcripts, degree certificates and graduation diplomas through CDGDC, MOE, CHESICC or the university; for India, mark sheets and the provisional or final degree certificate from the degree-granting university, with TrueCopy accepted; for Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Mongolia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs among the issuers.
Undergraduate and transfer records
Freshmen send the official secondary record or mark sheet from grade 9 through at least the end of grade 11, plus an official copy of final secondary exams such as GCE O and A levels, leaving certificates or matriculation exams (source). Electronic delivery is highly recommended; paper must come in an institution-sealed envelope (source). Transfer applicants add attested or certified copies of every semester mark sheet, the degree certificate, an attested GCE A Level certificate where relevant, and course syllabi or descriptions for credit evaluation (source).
Where UT Dallas's pages differ
One paragraph of the graduate International Students page says uploads must carry certified English translations by the appropriate academic institution or government agency. A later paragraph of the same page, and the Required Foreign Credentials guide, also accept a certified English translation company. We have not resolved that difference; if you are unsure, ask Graduate Admissions before you upload.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts and semester mark sheets, with the original-language version
- Degree certificates, diplomas and Chinese graduation diplomas
- Secondary school records from grade 9 and final exam certificates, for freshmen
- Course syllabi or descriptions, for transfer credit evaluation
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UT Dallas
Graduate applicants upload the original-language copies and their certified translations to the graduate application in the Applicant Portal; after admission the issuing institution sends the official documents (source, source).
Undergraduate applicants apply through ApplyTexas or the Common App, send official documents electronically (Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, SPEEDE, WES ICAP) or in an institution-sealed envelope, and upload supplemental items through their Galaxy account (source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For UT Dallas that means we translate your records; the official documents sent after admission come directly from your institution.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Yes. Undergraduate and graduate pages accept a certified translation company, as well as the academic institution or an authorized government agency (source, source).
Do I need a WES or ECE evaluation for UT Dallas graduate admission?
No. Graduate Admissions says outside credential evaluations are not required or accepted; UT Dallas evaluates foreign credentials itself (source).
Do I upload the original-language document or only the translation?
Both: graduate applicants upload the original-language copies with certified English translations (source).
Are consolidated mark sheets accepted for transfer to UT Dallas?
No. Transfer applicants send attested or certified copies of all semester mark sheets (source).
What happens after I am admitted to a UT Dallas graduate program?
Your institution sends official final documents directly, electronically if possible; UT Dallas compares them with your uploads, and missing documents can lead to registration holds (source).
