How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
The University of West Alabama asks international freshmen for official high school transcripts and the graduation certificate with a certified translation if they are not in English; it may evaluate them in-house or ask for a NACES or AICE evaluation.
It does not say who must translate. The University of West Alabama accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Transfer applicants need a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE organization, which we do not provide.
UWA at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
UWA's application information asks for the high school transcripts and diploma with a certified translation if not in English and does not restrict who translates (application information); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. UWA requirements in detail
Translation
Official transcripts and the graduation certificate (diploma), with a certified translation if not in English (International students: application information).
Who may translate
Not stated (International students: application information).
Freshman evaluation
UWA may evaluate foreign high school records in-house, or require an evaluation from a NACES or AICE affiliate (International students: application information).
Transfer evaluation
An official course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE-endorsed organization, sent by the agency to UWA; partnership students may be exempt (International students: application information).
Discounted agencies
Josef Silny & Associates, The Evaluation Company and International Education Evaluations (International students: application information).
Copies first
A color scan may be uploaded for a tentative decision; originals with official signatures and government stamps are due by the first day of classes (International students: application information).
Deadlines
Fall June 1, spring October 1, summer March 1 (International students: application information).
Scan now, originals by the first day of classes
UWA prefers that your high school send transcripts to admissions@uwa.edu, but if that is not possible you can upload a color scan of the original transcript and diploma in the application portal for a tentative decision.
The official documents, with signatures and government stamps, must reach UWA by the first day of classes, or your schedule may be canceled (application information).
Upload the certified translation with the scan so the admission decision is not delayed.
For freshmen, UWA may evaluate the high school record itself; it can still ask for an evaluation from a NACES or AICE member. Translate the high school diploma as well as the transcripts, since UWA asks for both.
Transfer and graduate applicants
Transfers need an official course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE-endorsed organization, sent by the agency to admissions@uwa.edu, unless they come through an official dual-degree or transfer partnership (International students: application information).
UWA links discounted applications with Josef Silny, The Evaluation Company and IEE; Josef Silny and The Evaluation Company ask for ATA-certified translators, which eVerbary can assign on request through a free quote.
Graduate applicants may be asked for a course-by-course evaluation if their transcript is not in English.

Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts
- Graduation certificate (diploma)
- University transcripts, for transfer and graduate applicants
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UWA
Upload the scan and its certified translation in the UWA application portal, or send documents to admissions@uwa.edu; the originals follow by the first day of classes (International students: application information).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UWA that means we translate your transcripts and diploma; a NACES or AICE evaluation, when UWA asks for one, is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does UWA require a certified translation?
Yes, for transcripts and the diploma not in English (International students: application information).
Will UWA evaluate my high school transcript itself?
It may evaluate freshman records in-house, but can require a NACES or AICE evaluation (International students: application information).
Can I apply with scanned copies?
Yes, for a tentative decision; official documents with signatures and government stamps are due by the first day of classes (International students: application information).
Do transfer students need an evaluation?
Yes, a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE-endorsed organization, unless exempt through a partnership (International students: application information).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
