How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
The University of Redlands publishes no translation rule for academic records: transfer coursework completed outside the US must have a SpanTran, IERF or WES evaluation issued to Redlands, and international graduate applicants order an IERF Detailed Report or a WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation.
Redlands' evaluation agencies, such as WES and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Financial documents must be in English or accompanied by an English translation; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.
Redlands at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Redlands asks for a SpanTran, IERF or WES evaluation of coursework from outside the US (how to apply), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); IERF does as well, while SpanTran (The Evaluation Company) asks for a translator certified by ATA. Redlands requirements in detail
Translation
No rule for academic records; the translation is what the agency needs. Financial documents must be in English or accompanied by an English translation.
Who may translate
Set by the agency. WES and IERF accept a professional translation; SpanTran asks for an ATA-certified translator.
Transfer
Coursework outside the US needs a SpanTran, IERF or WES evaluation issued to Redlands; up to 66 units from a two-year and 96 from a four-year institution (International students: how to apply).
Graduate
An IERF Detailed Report (course by course) or a WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation (International students: how to apply).
Conservatory (graduate music)
IERF, WES ICAP, a SpanTran Course Analysis or ECE's Further Education course by course, showing degree equivalency and GPA (International students: how to apply).
Financial documents
In English or with an English translation, stating the currency, with a conversion to US dollars (International students and scholars FAQs).
Spouse
A marriage certificate in English for a spouse coming with you (International students: how to apply).
Which evaluation each Redlands applicant orders
First-year applicants apply through the Common Application with official secondary transcripts, and Redlands publishes no evaluation or translation rule for them (International students: how to apply).
Transfer applicants are different: coursework completed outside the US must have a SpanTran, IERF or WES evaluation issued to Redlands, along with secondary transcripts and proof of graduation.
International graduate applicants fulfill the transcript requirement with an IERF Detailed Report or a WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation, and Conservatory of Music graduate applicants may also use a SpanTran Course Analysis or ECE's Further Education course by course, which must show the US degree equivalency and cumulative GPA.
Graduate evaluations go to Graduate and Professional Enrollment on Colton Avenue in Redlands or electronically to the application processing office (International students: how to apply). For a first-year school record, see high school diploma translation.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants. IERF asks for typed, line-by-line, word-for-word translations and may require a professional one.
SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, accepts outside translations only from translators certified by ATA, or translates in-house; eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request.
Financial documents for the I-20 follow Redlands' own rule: they must state the currency and be in English or accompanied by an English translation, with a conversion to US dollars (International students and scholars FAQs).
A spouse's marriage certificate must be in English (International students: how to apply).
Need a certified translation for Redlands?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts and degree certificates, for the evaluation
- Bank statements and sponsor letters
- Marriage certificate, if a spouse comes with you
- Secondary school transcripts
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Redlands
The translation goes to the agency with your records; the agency issues the evaluation to Redlands. Financial documents and their translations are uploaded with the Certificate of Finances in your application portal (International students: how to apply).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Redlands, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Redlands that means we translate your records and financial documents; the SpanTran, IERF or WES evaluation is ordered by you.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Redlands require a certified translation of my transcripts?
Redlands publishes no translation rule for academic records; it requires an evaluation from SpanTran, IERF or WES for coursework abroad (International students: how to apply), and the agency sets the translation rule.
Which WES report does Redlands want?
The course-by-course International Credential Advantage Package (ICAP) (International students: how to apply).
Do my bank documents need translating?
Yes, unless they are in English; they must state the currency (International students and scholars FAQs).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English (TEC rule).
How many transfer units does Redlands accept?
Up to 66 from a two-year and 96 from a four-year institution (International students: how to apply).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
