Worth knowing about CSUSB

Qualified translator

The translation is stamped by a qualified translator, never by you.

Same format

The translation follows the layout of the original.

Sealed by the school

Opened transcripts are not considered official.

CSUSB requirements in detail

Translation

Every original supporting document not in English, with an official translation in the same format, stamped by a qualified translator (International Admissions: steps to apply).

Who may translate

A qualified translator; translations by students are not acceptable (International Admissions: steps to apply).

The records

Originals or photocopies stamped or signed by a school official, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education or another government authority (International Admissions: steps to apply).

Official transcripts

In a sealed envelope from the school, mailed to the International Admissions Office; opened transcripts are not official (admission FAQs, steps).

Graduate

An English translation of non-English documents, sealed transcripts and official proof of the bachelor's degree; many programs add their own application (International Admissions: graduate).

Deadlines

Applications by June 1 for fall and November 1 for spring; documents by June 30 and November 30 (International Admissions: application and document deadlines).

Transfer credit

Evaluated by the Records Office from official transcripts only, not by International Admissions (International Admissions: admission FAQs).

What "stamped by a qualified translator" means for your file

CSUSB's steps to apply set three conditions for the translation: it is official, it keeps the same format as the original, and a qualified translator stamps it. The only translator CSUSB names as unacceptable is the student.

An eVerbary translation is done by a professional translator and comes with a signed certificate of accuracy; if you want a notary's seal on it as well, notarization can be added at checkout for $34.90 per order.

The same page warns that falsified records or bank statements lead to denial or expulsion, and that leaving a school off the application can mean denial or refused transfer credit. List every school you attended, and translate the records of each one.

The originals still come from your school

The translation travels with the record, not instead of it.

CSUSB wants academic records, certificates and diplomas as originals or photocopies stamped or signed by a school official, a ministry or another government authority (International Admissions: steps to apply), and official transcripts in a sealed envelope from the school, mailed to the College of Extended and Global Education, International Admissions, CGI-301 (International Admissions: admission FAQs).

Transfer credit is decided later by the Records Office, which uses only official transcripts. Applicants from India can see which CBSE examinations count toward general education under the CSU pilot (CBSE credit at CSUSB).

Undergraduate and graduate applicants

First-year, lower-division and upper-division transfer applicants apply through Cal State Apply with a $70 fee and follow the same document rules (International Admissions: steps to apply).

Graduate applicants need a degree comparable to a US bachelor's; the graduate page lists an English translation of non-English documents, a bank statement, sealed transcripts and official proof of the bachelor's degree, and notes that many programs ask for an additional application with their own deadlines.

Applicants for a second bachelor's degree use the undergraduate international application. See also the CSU system rule.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to CSUSB

  • Submit the translation with the stamped or signed copy of each record as CSUSB International Admissions instructs after your Cal State Apply application; questions go to international@csusb.edu (International Admissions: steps to apply).

  • Sealed official transcripts are mailed by the school to International Admissions; we cannot send documents on behalf of your school (International Admissions: admission FAQs).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For CSUSB that means we translate your records and bank statement; the sealed official transcripts and stamped copies come from your school or ministry, and transfer credit is decided by the Records Office.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
