How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
The University of North Florida asks international applicants to send every foreign transcript or document not in English with a certified English translation, without saying who must make it.
University of North Florida accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Transfer applicants usually also need a course-by-course evaluation from an agency approved by the Florida Department of Education, which we do not provide; and UNF refuses documents signed by a notary or another person with no educational affiliation.
UNF at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
UNF's international admissions page asks for a certified English translation of every document not in English and does not restrict who makes it (international admissions); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. UNF requirements in detail
Translation
Every foreign transcript or document not in English must come with a certified English translation (International admissions).
Who may translate
Not stated on the admissions page.
Notarized documents
Documents signed by a notary or another person with no educational affiliation are not accepted (International admissions).
High school records
Transcripts and exam results of all secondary work and the diploma or graduation certificate; IB results directly from the IB Organization (International admissions).
Evaluation (transfer)
Course-by-course evaluation by a third-party agency approved by the Florida Department of Education, except under articulation agreements or for English-language transcripts with a clear grading scale and credit-hour conversion (International admissions).
Where to send
The credential evaluation goes directly to the Office of Admissions, 1 UNF Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32224, admissions@unf.edu (International admissions).
Regulation
UNF regulation 2.0385R says academic documents must be translated into English and evaluated by a reputable credential evaluator (Regulation 2.0385R: admissions, international students).
Fee
$30 nonrefundable application fee; apply on the UNF application or, for first-year students, the Common App (International admissions).
The notary sentence
Right after the translation rule, UNF's international admissions page says documents signed by a notary or by another person with no educational affiliation will not be accepted.
The page does not say whether the sentence is about copies of your records, about translations, or both. A notarized copy of a transcript, for example, does not count as an official record at UNF.
A certified translation from eVerbary carries a signed certificate of translation accuracy; it is not a notarized document unless you add notarization at checkout, which UNF's wording gives no reason to do.
If you want to be sure the translation itself is acceptable, ask the Office of Admissions at admissions@unf.edu before you submit.
Transfer students: when UNF skips the evaluation
Transfer applicants with university work abroad generally need a course-by-course evaluation from an agency on the Florida Department of Education's list, which UNF links from its page (International admissions).
UNF skips it in two cases: courses covered by an articulation agreement with a UNF college, and transcripts written in English from an institution equivalent to a regionally accredited one, if the transcript shows a clear grading scale and credit-hour conversion.
A transcript you have translated is not "written in English" in that sense, so plan on the evaluation if your university records are in another language.
The translation goes to the agency with your records, under the agency's own rules. Transfers with fewer than 60 transferable credits also send high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores (International admissions).
Where UNF's pages differ
The admissions page asks for a certified English translation and an evaluation only for transfer applicants' university work.
UNF regulation 2.0385R, on admitting international students, says academic documents must be translated into English and evaluated by a reputable credential evaluator, and the first-year steps on the admissions page also refer to "the credential evaluation" without saying one is required.
We have not resolved this for you; first-year applicants should ask the Office of Admissions whether they need an evaluation.

- University transcripts, for the course-by-course evaluation
- Bank statements and sponsor letters, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UNF
Send records, translations and the evaluation to the Office of Admissions, 1 UNF Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32224, or ask at admissions@unf.edu; the credential evaluation must go to that office directly from the agency (International admissions).
SAT or ACT score reports can also be uploaded as a PDF in the applicant portal (International admissions); UNF's page does not describe uploading translations there, so check with the office how it wants them.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UNF that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation from an agency approved by the Florida Department of Education is ordered by you after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my documents for UNF?
UNF asks for a certified English translation and does not limit who makes it (International admissions). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that wording.
Should I have my translation notarized?
No. UNF says documents signed by a notary or another person with no educational affiliation are not accepted (International admissions).
Do I need a credential evaluation as a transfer student?
Usually yes, course-by-course from an agency approved by the Florida Department of Education; UNF waives it under articulation agreements or for English-language transcripts with a clear grading scale and credit conversion (International admissions).
Do transfer students send high school records?
Only if you will have fewer than 60 transferable credits after high school (International admissions).
What does UNF's regulation say?
Regulation 2.0385R says academic documents must be translated into English and evaluated by a reputable credential evaluator (Regulation 2.0385R: admissions, international students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
