University of Nebraska Omaha: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

The University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) asks international undergraduate applicants for transcripts from every school attended, with a certified English translation of any record not issued in English, and it does not say who must make it. University of Nebraska Omaha accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Transfer credit from a foreign college also needs a NACES course-by-course evaluation, and from August 1, 2026 graduate applicants send a NACES evaluation instead of transcripts; we do not provide evaluations.

What UNO asks for
TranslationA certified English translation of every academic record not issued in English (catalog).
Who may translateNot limited by the undergraduate rule (Catalog 2026-2027: international applicants). Continuing Studies wants the translation literal, not interpretive (Catalog 2026-2027: Division of Continuing Studies).
Where to send itUpload to MavLINK, email unointernational@unomaha.edu, or mail it to Undergraduate Admissions in the Eppley Administration Building (checklist, catalog).
Official transcriptsFinal official transcripts from all institutions within the first eight weeks of enrollment (Catalog 2026-2027: international applicants).
Foreign college creditA course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member; course syllabi may be requested, with translation (catalog, admission requirements).
GraduateFrom August 1, 2026, any degree earned or in progress outside the US needs a NACES course-by-course evaluation sent by the agency; transcripts sent to UNO directly are not accepted (Graduate Studies: how to apply (international)).
Financial documentsGraduate students applying for an I-20 submit financial documents translated into English through the iGlobal portal (Graduate Studies: how to apply (international)).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. UNO's 2026-2027 catalog says a certified English translation must be included with academic records not issued in English, without limiting who makes it (international applicants), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Undergraduates: translation now, official records within eight weeks

UNO's international applicants section of the 2026-2027 catalog lists the academic records first: transcripts from every high school, college or university you attended, with a certified English translation when a record is not in English. You can upload them to MavLINK, email them to unointernational@unomaha.edu or mail them, and the admission decision is made on those documents.

The official records come later: final official transcripts from all institutions are due within the first eight weeks of enrollment. If your school issues the final transcript after you leave, order the translation of that final version too, so the record UNO files matches the one it admitted you on.

Foreign college credit: an evaluation, syllabi and a literal translation

Admission and credit are separate steps. To have courses from a foreign college or university counted, you send a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member (Catalog 2026-2027: international applicants), and UNO may also ask for course syllabi, with translation, so faculty can match them to UNO courses (Catalog 2026-2027: undergraduate admission requirements).

The Division of Continuing Studies, which runs UNO's general studies degree, describes its own route in the catalog: a certified, literal and not interpretive translation alongside transcripts not issued in English, with World Education Services and Educational Credential Evaluators named in the same sentence, and an academic advisor who keeps a list of translation organizations (Catalog 2026-2027: Division of Continuing Studies). If you are coming to Continuing Studies, ask that advisor whether your file goes to WES or ECE before you order anything.

Graduate applicants from August 2026: the evaluation replaces the transcript

UNO's Office of Graduate Studies changed its rule for applications from August 1, 2026. If you earned a degree, or have one in progress, outside the United States, you need a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, sent directly by that agency; transcripts, mark sheets and diplomas sent straight to UNO are not accepted (Graduate Studies: how to apply (international)). The evaluation agency sets the translation rule for your academic records, so check its requirements first.

What UNO itself still asks graduate students to translate is the financial file: bank documents and sponsor letters for the I-20 must be in English, submitted through the iGlobal portal (Graduate Studies: how to apply (international)).

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to UNO

Undergraduate: upload the original record and its certified translation together in MavLINK, or email them to unointernational@unomaha.edu (checklist). Official final transcripts follow within your first eight weeks (catalog).

Graduate: academic records go to your NACES evaluation agency, not to UNO; translated financial documents go into the iGlobal portal after admission (Graduate Studies: how to apply (international)).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For UNO that means we translate your transcripts, syllabi and bank documents; the NACES course-by-course evaluation for credit and for graduate admission comes from an evaluation agency.

Frequently asked questions

Who can translate my transcripts for UNO?

UNO's catalog asks for a certified English translation and does not name who must make it (Catalog 2026-2027: international applicants). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.

When do I have to send official transcripts?

UNO admits on the documents you submit and wants final official transcripts from all institutions within your first eight weeks of enrollment (Catalog 2026-2027: international applicants).

Do I need an evaluation to transfer foreign college credit?

Yes, a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member, and UNO may ask for course syllabi with translation (catalog, admission requirements).

I am applying to a master's program. Do I send my transcript?

Not from August 1, 2026: UNO wants a NACES course-by-course evaluation sent by the agency and will not accept transcripts sent directly (Graduate Studies: how to apply (international)).

Do my bank statements need a translation?

For graduate students, yes: the financial documents for the I-20 must be translated into English (Graduate Studies: how to apply (international)). A bank statement page is translated at the same price per page.

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
