University of Bridgeport: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
The University of Bridgeport asks for word-for-word English translations of every non-English record, notarized, certified or attested, laid out in the same format as the original, and made by a bona fide translating agency in your country or in the U.S. University of Bridgeport accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. A course-by-course evaluation is needed only for some programs (dental hygiene, education, health science, nutrition), and we do not provide it.

UB requirements at a glance
| What UB asks for | |
|---|---|
| Translation | Word-for-word English translations, notarized, certified or attested, in the same format as the official document; everything on it must be translated (source). |
| Who may translate | A bona fide translating agency in your country or in the U.S. (undergraduate, graduate). |
| Records required | Official, notarized, attested or certified copies of all secondary records and all university records, including mark sheets, exam results, diplomas and degree certificates (source). |
| Evaluation | Not required in general. Course-by-course for undergraduate dental hygiene and for graduate education, health science, dental hygiene and nutrition when study was outside the U.S.; WES or ECE preferred where named (source). |
| Transfer credit | Official course descriptions or syllabi with exact course numbers; student-written descriptions are not accepted (FAQ). |
| Country rules | Indian graduate applicants submit individual semester mark sheets (source). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. UB says translations must be done by "a bona fide translating agency" in the applicant's country or in the U.S. (undergraduate requirements, graduate requirements), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Same format, every line
UB's wording is among the most specific we have seen: the translation must be word for word, in the same format as the official document, and "everything on the official document" must be translated (source). In practice that means stamps, seals, signatures, margin notes and the grading key printed on the back, not only the table of marks.
Our translations are laid out like the original so each line can be matched, and they include stamps and handwritten notes. Notarized, certified or attested are listed as alternatives; a certified translation meets the rule, and notarization can be added at checkout for $34.90 per order if you want it.
UB asks for all of your records, not only the ones you want credit for. Its pages warn that failing to provide every academic record can lead to denial of admission, revocation of admission and scholarships, or refusal of transfer credit (source).
Evaluations and syllabi depend on the program
For most programs, UB reads your translated records itself. A course-by-course evaluation is required when you studied at a college or university outside the U.S. and apply to undergraduate dental hygiene, or to the graduate education, health science, online dental hygiene or online nutrition programs; the dental hygiene and nutrition entries name NACES members, with ECE or WES preferred (graduate requirements, undergraduate requirements).
Transfer credit is decided with course descriptions in view. If they are not online, UB may ask for official descriptions with exact course numbers and names; they can arrive after admission but before you register (FAQ). Translate them as you would the transcript, keeping course codes unchanged.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Mark sheets and transcripts from secondary school and every college attended
- Final examination results, such as SSC, HSC, WAEC or national exams
- Diplomas and degree certificates
- Official course descriptions or syllabi, for transfer credit
- Semester mark sheets, for Indian graduate applicants
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UB
Apply through UB's online Student Application and submit the records with their translations as instructed (source). Each translation goes with the record it belongs to, and must mirror its layout.
If your program requires a course-by-course evaluation, send the translated records to the evaluation agency as well; the agency sets its own translation rules (source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For UB that means we translate your records and course descriptions; the course-by-course evaluation some programs require comes from an evaluation agency such as ECE or WES.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Can a translation company in the U.S. translate my documents for UB?
Yes. UB accepts translations by a bona fide translating agency in your country or in the U.S. (source).
Does my translation have to be notarized?
UB lists notarized, certified or attested translations as alternatives (source). A certified translation qualifies; notarization can be added at checkout for $34.90 per order.
What does "same format" mean?
The translation must follow the layout of the official document and translate everything on it (source), including stamps and notes.
Do I need a credential evaluation for UB?
Only for certain programs, such as dental hygiene, education, health science and nutrition, when you studied outside the U.S. (source).
Do I have to submit records from a program I did not finish?
Yes. UB requires all post-secondary records, even if you do not want transfer credit (source).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
