How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
The New School asks first-year applicants to Lang and Parsons, and graduate applicants to the New School for Social Research, to send transcripts not in English with a certified translation; Parsons asks transfers for an official translation and graduate applicants for an English translation.
None of these pages says who must translate, and The New School accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
An evaluation is not required, but The New School may ask for a NACES course-by-course evaluation at any time, which we do not provide.
The New School at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Lang and Parsons ask that transcripts not in English "be accompanied by a certified translation" (Lang, Parsons), and NSSR for a certified English translation (NSSR), without restricting who makes it, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets each rule. Worth knowing about The New School

The New School requirements in detail
Translation (Lang and Parsons first-year)
Translation (Parsons transfer)
An official transcript and an official translation if the transcript is not in English (Parsons: transfer students).
Translation (graduate)
Parsons: an English translation (Parsons: how to apply (graduate)). New School for Social Research: a certified English translation (The New School for Social Research: application instructions).
Who may translate
Not stated on any of these pages.
Evaluation
Not required for international transcripts, but The New School reserves the right to require an official NACES course-by-course evaluation at any time (Eugene Lang College: how to apply).
WES and ECE send theirs electronically; other NACES members mail them (The New School for Social Research: application instructions).
Parsons transfers
Courses completed outside the US must be certified by that country's Ministry of Education or equivalent; WES or another NACES member may evaluate them course by course (Parsons: transfer students).
Electronic transcripts (undergraduate)
Only through approved vendors, among them Common Application, Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse and NACES providers, or by email from a school official's address (Eugene Lang College: how to apply).
Each college writes its own rule
The New School's colleges use different words for the same document.
Eugene Lang College and Parsons ask first-year applicants for a certified translation of any transcript not in English (Lang, Parsons undergraduate); Parsons asks transfer applicants for an official translation (Parsons transfer); the Parsons graduate instructions ask for an English translation (Parsons graduate); and the New School for Social Research asks for a certified English translation (NSSR).
We have not resolved that difference for you. None of the pages restricts who translates, and a certified translation from a professional service satisfies all three wordings; if your program's page says something else, follow it.
Uploads first, and a NACES evaluation on request
Graduate applicants upload an unofficial transcript, mark sheet or academic record for every institution attended, even without a degree, with a key, legend or back copy; records from outside the US must show grades or marks and include the diploma if the degree has been conferred (NSSR).
Any discrepancy between uploaded and official transcripts leads to revocation of admission or dismissal.
No evaluation is required for international transcripts, but The New School reserves the right to require official transcripts or an official NACES course-by-course evaluation at any time during admission (Eugene Lang College: how to apply).
Graduate applicants seeking transfer credit from abroad must send official transcripts and translations, and may use WES, ECE or another NACES member; WES and ECE report electronically, others by mail (The New School for Social Research: application instructions). WES asks for a professional translation before it evaluates.
Parsons transfers: Ministry certification of foreign courses
Parsons adds a requirement for transfer applicants that is about the original, not the translation: courses completed at institutions outside the US must be certified by the country's Ministry of Education or equivalent.
Applicants also send high school transcripts with proof of graduation, and may have foreign college transcripts evaluated course by course by WES or another NACES member, with grade equivalents (Parsons transfer).
We translate the Ministry's certification with the records; we cannot obtain it.

Uploading the translation to The New School
Undergraduate transcripts and translations reach The New School through an approved electronic vendor, by email from a school official's address, or by mail; documents sent any other way are unofficial (Eugene Lang College: how to apply).
Graduate applicants upload transcripts, keys and translations in the Academic History section of the online application (Parsons, NSSR).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For The New School that means we translate your records; a NACES course-by-course evaluation, if asked for, and the Ministry of Education certification Parsons wants for transfer courses, come from the agency and the ministry.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
