How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

Fordham University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences asks for post-secondary transcripts in English or with a certified English translation, and for a certified translation of any document not in English, without saying who must make it.

Fordham University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

GSAS strongly encourages a course-by-course evaluation (required for the PhD in Psychology), Gabelli requires one for non-US degrees, and undergraduate transfers need WES or another NACES member for credit; we do not provide evaluations.

Fordham at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

GSAS asks for transcripts "in English or accompanied by a certified English translation" and does not restrict who translates (GSAS international students), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Fordham requirements in detail

Translation (GSAS)

Post-secondary transcripts in English or with a certified English translation; any document not in English, including financial documents for the AFCOE, needs a certified translation (Graduate School of Arts and Sciences: international students).

Who may translate

Not stated.

Evaluation (GSAS)

Strongly encouraged for transcripts from outside the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland and the UK; required for the PhD programs in Psychology; from TEC (discounted form), WES, ECE or any NACES member (Graduate School of Arts and Sciences: international students).

Three-year degrees (GSAS)

Eligible if from a Bologna Process member institution; otherwise a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member (Graduate School of Arts and Sciences: international students).

Gabelli School of Business

An official transcript evaluation for degrees from non-US universities, from WES, ECE or any NACES member; exceptions for Canada, Australia, Ireland, the UK and certain partner schools (Gabelli School of Business: info for international students).

Undergraduate first-year

Transcripts for three full years plus the current year, sent by the school or counselor; admissions may request additional credentials or translations (Undergraduate admission: international students).

Undergraduate transfer

University coursework abroad must be evaluated by WES or another NACES member for transfer credit; unofficial transcripts from the applicant are accepted at application (Undergraduate admission: international transfer students).

GSAS: certified translation, encouraged evaluation

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences asks for transcripts from post-secondary institutions in English or with a certified English translation.

For transcripts from outside the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland and the UK it strongly encourages a course-by-course credential evaluation, and for the PhD programs in Psychology the evaluation is required and cannot be waived (GSAS international students).

GSAS offers a discounted, expedited evaluation from The Evaluation Company through its own request form, and also names WES and ECE, but any NACES member will do.

The evaluation is uploaded to the application with the original transcript and usually takes two to four weeks.

A waiver may be considered for a four-year bachelor's transcript written in English, with every course, credit and grade and a grading key; that route is closed if your transcript is not in English.

The agencies set their own translation rules.

The Evaluation Company accepts outside translators only if they are certified by the American Translators Association; WES accepts a professional translation and refuses applicant translations; ECE accepts a word-for-word translation, even the applicant's own, and sells a translation waiver.

Gabelli and three-year degrees

The Gabelli School of Business requires an official transcript evaluation from applicants whose undergraduate or graduate degree comes from a non-US university, with exceptions for Canada, Australia, Ireland, the UK and certain partner schools; it accepts WES, ECE or any NACES member (Gabelli international students).

At GSAS, a three-year bachelor's degree from a Bologna Process member institution makes you eligible to apply; from anywhere else, you need a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member (Graduate School of Arts and Sciences: international students).

Undergraduate: transcripts from the school, translations on request

Fordham's undergraduate international page asks for three full years of courses and grades plus the current year, sent through the Common Application or by email by the school or counselor; transcripts sent by students are not accepted.

It does not set a translation rule, but says admissions may request additional credentials or translations through the applicant portal checklist (international first-year).

Transfer applicants may upload unofficial university transcripts themselves at application. Coursework completed at an international university must be evaluated by WES or another NACES member to be considered for transfer credit (international transfer).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Fordham that means we translate; the course-by-course evaluation GSAS encourages, Gabelli and Psychology require, and transfer credit depends on comes from TEC, WES, ECE or another NACES member.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
