How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

SUNY Orange requires anyone who attended high school outside the US to submit a credential evaluation of the transcript from a NACES member, and a course-by-course NACES evaluation for college study abroad.

SUNY Orange's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

SUNY Orange mentions SpanTran, which translates and evaluates in one order and wants an ATA-certified translator if you bring your own; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

SUNY Orange at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

SUNY Orange asks for an evaluation from a NACES member (international students), and WES, a NACES member, accepts a translation by a professional translator or translation service (WES).

If you choose SpanTran (now The Evaluation Company), it asks for a translator certified by ATA, which eVerbary provides on request (TEC). Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

Worth knowing about SUNY Orange

High school evaluated

NACES report for any foreign transcript.

College: course-by-course

Also from a NACES member.

You pay the agency

The fee is the student's.

SUNY Orange requirements in detail

Translation

No rule of its own; SUNY Orange notes that SpanTran offers a translation with its evaluation (International students).

High school abroad

Credential evaluation of the transcript by a NACES member; you need the equivalent of a US high school diploma (International students).

College abroad

Course-by-course evaluation by a NACES member (International students).

Cost

The evaluation fee is the student's responsibility (International students).

English

TOEFL iBT 73 or IELTS 6.5, scores sent by the testing service; placement in math and English for all applicants (International students).

Financial proof

SUNY Financial Statement, notarized or certified, showing at least $23,709 for one year (International students).

An evaluation even for high school

Many community colleges read a translated high school record themselves.

SUNY Orange does not: students who attended high school outside the US must submit a credential evaluation of the transcript completed by a NACES member, and students who attended college abroad must submit a course-by-course evaluation, also from a NACES member.

The applicant pays the agency (International students). F-1 students already in the US who transfer in add the Transfer Student Form.

That makes the translation an input for the agency. Translate the transcript, the diploma and the grading scale before you open the evaluation order, so the agency file is complete on the first day.

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

SUNY Orange points to SpanTran, which offers a course-by-course translation and evaluation in one order (International students).

SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company (TEC), accepts outside translations only from an ATA-certified translator (TEC); eVerbary can assign one on request through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies.

Any other NACES member works too. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation from a professional translator or translation service, uploaded in your WES account (WES).

ECE accepts any complete, literal translation in the same format as the original, including one you make yourself, and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally for the report (ECE).

Need a certified translation for SUNY Orange?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcript, for the NACES evaluation
  • Secondary school diploma or certificate
  • University transcripts, for a course-by-course report
  • Bank statement for the SUNY Financial Statement, if not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to SUNY Orange

  • The translation goes to the NACES agency with your documents, and the agency sends the evaluation to SUNY Orange. The SUNY forms, TOEFL scores and passport copy go to Admissions as the international page describes (International students).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For SUNY Orange that means we translate your records for the agency; the evaluation is ordered and paid by you from a NACES member after the translation.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does SUNY Orange require an evaluation of my high school transcript?

Yes, if you attended high school outside the US: a credential evaluation from a NACES member (International students).

Do I need a translation for SUNY Orange?

SUNY Orange sets no translation rule of its own; the NACES agency does. WES, for example, wants a professional translation (WES).

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?

Yes. Ask for a free quote and say it is for SpanTran (TEC). ATA certification covers Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page).

Who pays for the evaluation?

You do; SUNY Orange says the fee is the student's responsibility (International students).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
