How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

SUNY Rockland requires every foreign transcript, secondary and post-secondary, to be evaluated by an accredited service: a general analysis for high school, a course-by-course report for university credit, from IFCS or any NACES member.

SUNY Rockland's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You translate first, then the agency evaluates; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

What SUNY Rockland reads: the evaluation, not the transcript

SUNY Rockland wants documentation that you have the equivalent of a US high school diploma, and it gets it from an evaluation agency: all foreign transcripts, secondary and post-secondary, are to be evaluated by an accredited service.

For high school a general analysis is enough, without a GPA; for university courses you want credited you need a course-by-course report.

You may use IFCS, where RCC applicants get a discount code, or any NACES member (International students: how to apply).

The rule is not only for F-1 students: the page for first-time students repeats it word for word (First-time students), so a Rockland County resident with a diploma from abroad goes through the same agency.

The office also reserves the right to ask for an evaluation of all foreign credentials to verify them (International students: how to apply).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

The agency, not Rockland, decides how your high school diploma and transcripts must be translated.

WES requires an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, which may be a certified translation agency, uploaded in your WES account; it does not translate documents itself (WES).

ECE accepts a complete, literal, word-for-word translation in the same format as the original, lets applicants translate their own documents, and sells an $85 translation waiver under which it translates internally only for the report (ECE).

Check the rule of the agency you pick before ordering. A certified eVerbary translation is word-for-word, keeps the layout and covers every stamp, which is what these agencies describe.

Need a certified translation for SUNY Rockland?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school diploma or leaving certificate, for the general analysis
  • Secondary school transcripts, every year
  • University transcripts, for a course-by-course report
  • Bank statements and sponsor letters, if not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to SUNY Rockland

  • The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your documents; the agency sends its report to SUNY Rockland. Other documents go to International Student Services by email or by mail (International students: how to apply).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For SUNY Rockland that means we translate your records for the agency; the general or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from IFCS or a NACES member after the translation.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does SUNY Rockland require a certified translation?

SUNY Rockland publishes no translation rule of its own; it requires an evaluation (International students: how to apply), and the agency asks for the translation, as WES does from a professional translator (WES).

Do I need a course-by-course evaluation for SUNY Rockland?

Only for university credits you want transferred; for high school, a general analysis without GPA is enough (International students: how to apply).

Which evaluation agencies does SUNY Rockland accept?

IFCS, with a discount code for RCC applicants, or any NACES member (International students: how to apply).

I am a resident with a diploma from abroad. Does the rule apply to me?

Yes. The first-time student page asks for the same evaluation of all foreign transcripts (First-time students).

What are the F-1 deadlines?

Fall: July 1 from outside the US or August 20 inside; spring: December 1 or January 15 (International students: how to apply).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
