How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
SUNY Adirondack requires students who attended high school outside the US to submit a credential evaluation of the transcript from a NACES member, and asks for a WES course-by-course evaluation of college classes for transfer credit.
SUNY Adirondack's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. You translate first and the agency evaluates; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Where to send

Applications
SUNY Adirondack's free application or the SUNY application ($50), each with its own list of forms (International students).
Two evaluations, two purposes
SUNY Adirondack separates admission from credit. For admission, anyone who attended high school outside the US submits a credential evaluation of the transcript completed by a NACES member.
For transfer credit, it asks for an official course-by-course evaluation of college-level classes from WES specifically (International students).
Both must be on file in the College Access Office by the deadline, July 15 for fall or December 15 for spring, before an I-20 can be issued.
If you have both high school and university records, one agency can do both reports; ordering WES for everything keeps the translations in one account.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES requires an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation agency, uploaded in your WES account, and does not translate itself (WES).
SUNY Adirondack also points to SpanTran, which offers translation and evaluation in one order (International students); SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, accepts outside translations only from an ATA-certified translator (TEC), which eVerbary can provide on request through a free quote.
Translate the high school diploma, every year of the transcript and the grading scale before you open the order.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SUNY Adirondack
The translations go to the agency with your documents; the agency sends the evaluation. The financial statement, bank statement and passport page are emailed to the College Access Office (International students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For SUNY Adirondack that means we translate your records for the agency; the NACES or WES evaluation is ordered by you after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions

Which agency for transfer credit?
WES, with a course-by-course evaluation of your college-level classes (International students).
Does WES accept an eVerbary translation?
WES accepts a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation agency (WES); a certified eVerbary translation is that.
