How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Southeast Community College asks F-1 applicants for official proof of high school completion and, when it is not in English, an official translated copy that includes the graduation date; it recommends two evaluation agencies but does not require them or say who must translate.
Southeast Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Credit for college work abroad must be evaluated by an outside degree evaluation service, which we do not provide.
SCC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
SCC's international student checklist requires an official translated copy of documents not in English and only recommends ECE or Josef Silny & Associates (international checklist); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. SCC requirements in detail
Translation (F-1)
An official translated copy of high school completion documents not in English, which must include a graduation date (International student checklist (PDF, southeast.edu)).
Who may translate
Not stated; SCC recommends Educational Credential Evaluators or Josef Silny & Associates (International student checklist (PDF, southeast.edu)).
High school standard
SCC reads high school documents as recommended by the NCAA Guide to Academic Eligibility, for athletes and non-athletes alike (International student checklist (PDF, southeast.edu)).
Where to upload
Under Supplemental Items in your application account, once the application is submitted (International student checklist (PDF, southeast.edu)).
Foreign college credit
An official course-by-course translated copy from an outside degree evaluation service; SCC does not evaluate foreign degrees (registration and records, transfer credit).
Deadlines (F-1)
Spring 2027: November 1, 2026, from abroad or as a transfer; late applications are withdrawn (international admissions, checklist).
Programs
F-1 students cannot apply to one-semester certificate programs, summer terms or as visiting students (International student checklist (PDF, southeast.edu), International student admissions).
High school completion, translated with the graduation date
For an I-20, SCC wants official proof that you completed high school, uploaded under Supplemental Items after you submit the application.
If the document is not in English, you send an official translated copy, and that copy must include the graduation date (international checklist).
Make sure the diploma or certificate you translate actually states the date; if it appears only on the transcript, translate both. SCC judges high school documents against the NCAA Guide to Academic Eligibility. A certified high school diploma translation covers this step.
SCC recommends Educational Credential Evaluators or Josef Silny & Associates, but the checklist does not require either.
If you use them: ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations, even your own, or translates internally for its report for $85; Josef Silny wants certified translations by ATA-certified translators in the US, or sells its own. eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request through a free quote.
College credit from abroad needs an outside evaluation
Credit from colleges outside the US must be evaluated by an outside degree evaluation service, because SCC does not evaluate foreign degrees (transfer credit).
Its records office describes the requirement as an official course-by-course translated copy and recommends the same two agencies (Registration and records).
Only degree-seeking students are reviewed, against the program they were accepted into; up to three quarters of a certificate, diploma or associate degree can come from transfer credit, and transfer credits do not count in your SCC GPA.
Where SCC's pages differ
For F-1 students transferring from another US school, the Fall 2026 deadline was July 15, 2026 on the international admissions page and July 1, 2026 on the checklist. Both give November 1, 2026 for Spring 2027.
Need a certified translation for SCC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school diploma or completion certificate, with the graduation date
- High school transcripts or mark sheets
- College or university transcripts, for an outside evaluation
- Bank documents for the affidavit of support, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SCC
Upload the original document and its translation under Supplemental Items in your SCC application account after submitting the application (International student checklist (PDF, southeast.edu)). eVerbary can also email the translation directly to International Admissions on request.
For foreign college credit, the translation goes with your records to the evaluation service, and official transcripts come directly from the sending school to Registration and Records (Transfer credit).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For SCC that means we translate your high school and college records; the course-by-course evaluation for transfer credit comes from an outside evaluation service such as ECE.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use ECE or Josef Silny for my translation?
No. SCC recommends them but requires only an official translated copy that includes the graduation date (International student checklist (PDF, southeast.edu)). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
What must the translation of my diploma show?
The graduation date, according to SCC's checklist (International student checklist (PDF, southeast.edu)).
Does SCC evaluate my foreign college courses?
No. Credit from colleges outside the US must be evaluated by an outside degree evaluation service (Transfer credit).
When is the Spring 2027 deadline?
November 1, 2026, for applicants abroad and F-1 transfers (International student admissions).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
