Rowan University: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

Rowan's Office of International Admissions asks for a certified English translation of any high school or college transcript not in English, and for certified translations of all academic records, including degree or graduation certificates, alongside the originals. Rowan University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. A credential evaluation is optional because Rowan evaluates foreign transcripts itself at no cost; if you already have a NACES report, Rowan accepts it and waives the application fee.

What Rowan asks for
TranslationHigh school and college transcripts not in English need a certified English translation (source); Rowan wants the records in the original language plus certified translations of all academic records, including degree or graduation certificates (source).
Who may translateNot stated. The rule asks for a certified translation without naming a translator type (source).
EvaluationOptional. Rowan evaluates foreign transcripts course-by-course for admission, free; it accepts NACES course-by-course reports (source) and waives the application fee if you submit an official one (source).
Copies or originalsScanned unofficial copies for admission; official transcripts before you register. Official records must be sent by a university official, by mail or institutional email or a secure portal, not by the student (source).
TimingOfficial transcripts and proof of degree by the Regular Add/Drop deadline, or the I-20 may be cancelled; you can also deliver them in person by appointment after arriving (source).
IndiaFinal-year students submit a Bonafide Certificate; three-year degrees need 60% or First Class, or 7.00 on the 10-point scale (source).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. Rowan asks for a "certified English translation" and does not say who must make it (international requirements, official transcripts), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Policy checked on October 13, 2026.

Rowan evaluates your records itself

Many universities send international applicants to an evaluation agency. Rowan's Office of International Admissions does a course-by-course evaluation of foreign transcripts itself, for admission only and at no cost, once your application is complete (source). A NACES report is optional; if you already have an official one, Rowan accepts it and will waive the application fee (source).

That makes the certified translation the document Rowan's evaluators actually read. Rowan asks for it for every academic record, including degree or graduation certificates, alongside the record in its original language, so each page you submit needs its translation.

Official records, India rules and credit appeals

Rowan decides on scanned copies, but admitted students must have official transcripts sent by a university official before registering, and a registration hold stays until they arrive. If they are missing by the Regular Add/Drop deadline, Rowan warns the I-20 may be cancelled. Confirmed students can also book an appointment to hand in official documents after arriving (source).

Applicants finishing a bachelor's degree send mark sheets for all completed semesters and a Bonafide Certificate, then the provisional or original degree certificate on enrolling; Rowan publishes thresholds for three-year Indian degrees (source). After admission, the registrar and the department evaluate transfer credit; if a course comes in as a free elective, an appeal needs translated copies of the syllabus (source).

Where Rowan's pages differ

International Admissions says a credential evaluation is optional and accepts scanned unofficial transcripts (source). An older Spring 2022 instruction sheet from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences requires a NACES course-by-course evaluation at the time of application and says unofficial transcripts are not acceptable, though it accepts certified copies of non-US transcripts with a certified English translation (source). We have not resolved that difference; graduate applicants should check their program's current instructions.

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to Rowan

Upload the transcript and its certified translation to your application portal after submitting the International Undergraduate (Freshman/Transfer) application (source).

Official records go to the Office of International Admissions in Glassboro or to International-Documents@rowan.edu, sent by your institution (source).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
