Rochester Institute of Technology tells international transfer applicants that an official English translation is required, while a WES or ECE evaluation generally is not; it does not say who must translate.

Rochester Institute of Technology accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

RIT's graduate admissions requires no credential evaluation and takes uploaded transcripts, mark sheets and degree certificates; it publishes no separate translation rule, and we do not provide evaluations.

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

RIT's international undergraduate FAQ says "an official English translation is required" and does not restrict who makes it (undergraduate FAQ), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Worth knowing about RIT

Translation, not evaluation

Transfers need an official translation; WES or ECE generally not.

Graduate: no WES

RIT does not require a credential review to apply.

Uploads are unofficial

Final records come from your institution on enrollment.

RIT requirements in detail

Translation (undergraduate transfer)

An official English translation is required (Admissions: undergraduate international student FAQs).

Who may translate

Not stated.

Evaluation (undergraduate)

A WES or ECE evaluation is generally not required; the Registrar may ask for one to clarify coursework, and sending one voluntarily can speed up credit transfer (Admissions: undergraduate international student FAQs).

Transcripts (undergraduate)

First-year: an official high school transcript is required before review. Transfer: unofficial transcripts for the initial review, official ones for transfer credit and enrollment (Admissions: undergraduate international student FAQs).

Graduate documents

Transcripts or mark sheets and degree certificates from every post-secondary institution, with grading keys; no WES evaluation or other credential review required (Graduate admissions: how to apply).

Graduate official records

Uploaded documents are not considered official; on enrollment, your prior institution sends final records directly to RIT (Graduate admissions: how to apply).

India (graduate)

Three-year degrees qualify if the college is WHED-recognized, NAAC "A" accredited and you passed in the first class; otherwise a WES evaluation or postgraduate study (Graduate admissions: how to apply).

Undergraduate transfer: the translation is required, the evaluation is not

RIT's international undergraduate FAQ answers the question most transfer applicants ask: an official English translation is required, but a third-party evaluation from WES or ECE is generally not needed to apply.

The Registrar's office may ask for one if it needs to clarify your coursework, and RIT notes that providing one voluntarily can make credit transfer smoother and faster (international undergraduate FAQs).

Transfer applicants can submit unofficial transcripts for the first review, which RIT says gets you a decision sooner; official transcripts are needed for the transfer credit evaluation and to enroll. First-year applicants need an official high school transcript before RIT reviews the application.

Graduate: uploads, grading keys and the Indian three-year degree

RIT's graduate application asks for transcripts from every college or university attended, including the grading keys, and from international applicants transcripts or mark sheets and degree certificates from all post-secondary institutions.

You upload copies with the application or later through the admissions portal; they are not considered official, and on enrollment your prior institution sends final records directly to RIT (graduate application).

RIT does not require a WES evaluation or other credential review and contacts you if it cannot determine your degree equivalency.

Three-year degrees from India are accepted when the institution is WHED-recognized, NAAC-accredited with an "A" grade and you passed in the first class; otherwise you may request a WES evaluation or need postgraduate study.

WES requires records not in English to be translated by a professional translator.

Uploading the translation to RIT

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For RIT that means we translate your records; a WES or ECE evaluation, if the Registrar asks for one or you choose to send it, comes from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need WES to transfer to RIT?

Does RIT graduate admissions require a credential evaluation?

No. RIT does not require a WES evaluation or other credential review; it contacts you if it needs more information (Graduate admissions: how to apply).
