Nassau CC requirements in detail

Translation

F1 applicants: official secondary diploma or certificate and official transcripts, including official translations to English (International students: apply).

Who may translate

Not stated.

Secondary evaluation

Only in some cases, on request, by a professional evaluation company; the office may ask for an evaluation of any foreign credential to verify it (International students: apply).

Post-secondary records (F1)

Official transcripts in a sealed envelope; non-US transcripts must include an evaluation from a professional company: NACES members such as ECE, SpanTran or WES, or the Institute of Foreign Credential Services (International students: apply).

Residents and US applicants

Freshman and transfer applicants email a scan or photo of foreign documents to Admissions; a third-party evaluation may be needed (freshman, transfer).

Credit for foreign courses

A course-by-course evaluation from a member of NACES, AICE, AACRAO, the American Translators Association or NAFSA, for courses from a home institution with equivalent regional accreditation (Transfer applicants).

Deadlines (F1)

Fall: July 6 from overseas, July 27 for F1 transfers. Spring: November 2 overseas, December 14 transfers; late documents roll to the next semester (International students: apply).

F1 applicants: the translation travels with the diploma

Nassau CC's checklist puts the translation inside the educational documents item: the official secondary diploma or certificate and official transcripts, "including official translations to English" (International students: apply).

For secondary school that is usually all you need; the college asks for an evaluation only in some cases, and reserves the right to ask for one for any foreign credential to verify it.

College work is different. Transcripts from non-US schools must arrive in a sealed envelope and come with an evaluation from a professional evaluation company.

Nassau CC names NACES members, giving ECE, SpanTran and WES as examples, and the Institute of Foreign Credential Services (International students: apply). Each of those agencies sets its own rule for the translation you send it.

Residents and transfers: scans first, and a wider list of evaluators

If you live in the US and apply as a freshman or transfer, Nassau CC asks you to email a scan or photo of your foreign education documents to Admissions, and says they may need a third-party evaluation; you are also welcome to bring the originals (freshman, transfer).

To get credit for courses taken abroad, you need a course-by-course evaluation from an evaluator that belongs to NACES, AICE, AACRAO, the American Translators Association or NAFSA.

The home school must hold accreditation equivalent to US regional accreditation, and each course must match a current Nassau CC course with the same credit hours (Transfer applicants).

Where Nassau CC's pages differ

The international checklist accepts evaluations from NACES members and the Institute of Foreign Credential Services.

The transfer and freshman pages accept a course-by-course evaluation from a member of NACES, AICE, AACRAO, ATA or NAFSA.

We have not resolved this; F1 applicants should follow the international list, and anyone unsure should ask isaoff@ncc.edu or Admissions before ordering.

  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Nassau CC

  • F1 applicants complete the online application and send the educational documents with their translations, the fee form and financial documents by the deadline; questions go to isaoff@ncc.edu (International students: apply).

  • Residents and US applicants email scans of foreign documents, with their translations, to Admissions@ncc.edu (Transfer applicants).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Nassau CC that means we translate your diploma and transcripts; the evaluation of non-US college records comes from a professional evaluation company.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Nassau Community College need my diploma translated?

Who can translate my records?

Nassau CC does not say who must translate (International students: apply). A certified translation from a professional service meets "official translation".

Do I need an evaluation of my high school?

Not usually. Nassau CC asks for a secondary evaluation only in some cases (International students: apply).

Which agencies does Nassau CC accept for foreign college transcripts?

For F1 applicants, NACES members such as ECE, SpanTran or WES, and the Institute of Foreign Credential Services (International students: apply).

I am a permanent resident with records from abroad. How do I send them?

Email a scan or digital photo to Admissions@ncc.edu; a third-party evaluation may be requested (Freshman applicants).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
