Minnesota State University, Mankato: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Minnesota State University, Mankato asks international undergraduates to upload their non-US records as originals or official copies translated into English, without saying who must translate. Minnesota State University, Mankato accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. A translation is enough to be admitted as an undergraduate; credit for university work abroad needs an ECE evaluation ordered after the F-1 visa, and graduate applicants educated abroad need a NACES evaluation, neither of which we provide.
Translated, uploaded
Originals or official copies, in PDF or JPG.
ECE for $100
Only for transfer credit, after the F-1 visa.
NACES for graduate study
Detailed evaluation, sent by the evaluator.

| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. The international paperwork checklist asks for non-US records "translated into English" and does not restrict who translates, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 13, 2026. |

Undergraduates: a translation for admission, ECE only for credit
Minnesota State Mankato reads international undergraduate records itself. You upload everything to the application, in PDF or JPG: secondary school, college or university and English language program records, as originals or official copies, translated into English if they are not in English (paperwork checklist). First-year applicants need results equal to at least a US 3.0 GPA, and the first-year page publishes its own minimums for some systems: B3 in WASSCE, Grade 3 in WAEC, 61-70 in CBSE external subjects, Assez Bien (12-13) for Ivory Coast, and 80-90% for Korea.
Transfer applicants with university work abroad need a 2.0 cumulative GPA and 67% of attempted courses completed (source). If you do not plan to transfer credits, no outside agency has to review your records. If you do, the Kearney International Center says every record from a university outside the US must first be evaluated by a recognized outside agency, after acceptance; you order an ECE evaluation through the KIC portal once you have the F-1 visa, for $100, and it takes 4 to 6 weeks. Work done abroad is considered for credit only when the official ECE evaluation arrives.
Graduate study: the evaluation carries the record
Master's and doctoral applicants educated outside the United States follow a different rule. The graduate requirements require a detailed credential evaluation from a NACES member, sent directly by the evaluator, listing completed courses, grades and an overall cumulative evaluation; for a degree still in progress it should state the US equivalent of the expected degree. Many applicants use ECE, WES or SpanTran, and Minnesota State Mankato warns WES users to check the campus address because delays are common.
With a detailed evaluation, official transcripts and mark sheets are not needed at the time of application, but official final transcripts are if the degree is pending. Each evaluation agency sets its own translation rules; for WES, see translation for WES. Graduate English minimums are higher than undergraduate ones: TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 110 (source).
Where Minnesota State Mankato's pages differ
The first-year requirements page lists an ACT English score of 15 as proof of English proficiency, while the paperwork checklist lists 18. On the graduate page, one line says credentials must be sent directly from the issuing institution, while another says that with a detailed evaluation, which the evaluator sends, official transcripts are not required at application. We have not resolved these differences; the Kearney International Center (international@mnsu.edu) can confirm.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Minnesota State Mankato
Undergraduates upload each record and its English translation in the application's Document Uploader, logged in with a StarID, in PDF or JPG format (source). The application fee is $20; the international calendar page gives a promo code that waives it (source).
Graduate applicants educated abroad have their NACES evaluation sent directly by the evaluator; photocopies are not accepted (source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Minnesota State Mankato that means we translate your records; the ECE evaluation for transfer credit and the NACES evaluation for graduate admission come from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my records for Minnesota State Mankato?
Its international checklist asks for non-US records translated into English and does not name who must translate (source). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation.
Do I need WES or ECE to apply as an undergraduate?
No. You need an outside evaluation only if you want credit for university work abroad, and you order the ECE evaluation after you receive your F-1 visa (source).
Do I need a credential evaluation for a master's program?
Yes, if you were educated outside the US: a detailed evaluation from a NACES member, sent directly by the evaluator (source).
Do I mail my documents?
No, for undergraduate admission you upload them, as originals or official copies, in PDF or JPG through the Document Uploader (source).
I am applying from Pakistan. Is there anything extra?
Yes. Undergraduate applicants from Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Pakistan and Uganda complete an admission interview after applying (source).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
