How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
Michigan Technological University says English translations must accompany all documents for international first-year and transfer applicants, and does not say who must make them.
Michigan Technological University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Transcripts themselves must be sent to Michigan Tech by your school, and transfer credit from colleges outside the US and Canada needs a course-by-course evaluation from Scholaro, WES or The Evaluation Company, which we do not provide.
Michigan Tech at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Michigan Tech's international admission pages say "English translations must accompany all documents" without restricting who makes them (first-year requirements), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets the rule. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Michigan Tech requirements in detail
Translation
English translations must accompany all documents, for first-year and transfer applicants (first-year, transfer).
Who may translate
Not stated; the pages name no translator.
Transcripts
Official secondary transcripts or attested mark sheets covering your most recent three years, sent by each school directly to Michigan Tech, by email to international@mtu.edu (First-year international students).
Country exams
WAEC or NECO results with scratch-card details for West Africa, CAPE or CSEC results for the Caribbean, and GCSE, IGCSE or AS results for Cambridge schools (First-year international students).
College work abroad
Official transcripts to Scholaro, World Education Services or The Evaluation Company for a course-by-course evaluation, ordered and paid by you (International transfer students).
Transfer credit
A syllabus or course description in English for each course taken outside the US, with topics and textbook details, at least four months before you start (International transfer students).
Graduate applicants
Certified copies of transcripts to begin review; official copies and proof of degree after acceptance. The Graduate School page does not mention translations (Graduate School: application requirements).
Your school sends the transcript; the translation goes with it
Michigan Tech will not accept a transcript you send yourself: every secondary or college transcript has to come from the school, by email to international@mtu.edu, and the school must send one for each institution attended in the last three years (First-year international students).
At the same time, English translations must accompany all documents.
The pages do not say whether the school has to send the translation too, or whether you may add it, so ask international@mtu.edu which they prefer before you order.
Documents beyond the checklist slow things down: Michigan Tech asks you not to send recommendations, essays or extra papers unless your Husky Portal checklist lists them (First-year international students).
Any additional document Michigan Tech needs is posted to that checklist within a few days of applying, and country-specific items such as WAEC scratch-card details may be requested.
Transfer credit: evaluation plus English course descriptions
If you studied at a college outside the US and Canada, you send official transcripts to Scholaro, World Education Services or The Evaluation Company for a course-by-course evaluation, which the agency sends to Michigan Tech (International transfer students).
For credit, each course also needs a syllabus or course description in English that lists its topics and its textbook with author, edition and date.
Only courses comparable to Michigan Tech courses, with a US-equivalent grade of C or higher, are eligible, and credits are evaluated only after you are admitted and have paid the deposit; submit everything at least four months before your start date.
The three agencies set their own translation rules. WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator (WES).
Scholaro accepts documents in their native language or with a certified translation (Scholaro FAQ) and may reject translations not made by a professional translator, an ATA-certified translator or an agency it recognizes (Scholaro terms).
The Evaluation Company takes outside translations only from ATA-certified translators (TEC); see the ATA section below.

- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Michigan Tech
Michigan Tech's checklist lives in your Husky Portal, and documents go to international@mtu.edu; transcripts must come from your school (First-year international students).
For college work abroad, the translation goes to Scholaro, WES or TEC with your records; English course descriptions go to the Admissions Office at least four months before you start (International transfer students).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Michigan Tech, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Michigan Tech that means we translate your transcripts, exam results and course descriptions; the course-by-course evaluation comes from Scholaro, WES or The Evaluation Company.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my documents for Michigan Tech?
Michigan Tech does not name a translator; it says English translations must accompany all documents (First-year international students). A certified translation from eVerbary meets that.
Can I email my own transcript to Michigan Tech?
No. Transcripts must be sent directly by your school; Michigan Tech cannot accept them from students (First-year international students).
Which evaluation agency for transfer credit?
Scholaro, World Education Services or The Evaluation Company, course-by-course (International transfer students).
What must my course descriptions include?
A description of each course and its topics, and the textbook titles with author, edition and date, in English (International transfer students).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for Michigan Tech?
Yes, on request, for example if you use The Evaluation Company. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for a TEC evaluation for Michigan Tech and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
