Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from Luna's public pages (sources).

Luna Community College publishes no translation rule of its own: students with foreign transcripts must have them evaluated by a NACES member or another CHEA-recognized evaluation service, and the evaluation must show the equivalent US secondary or college credential.

Luna's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
  • The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
  • Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
  • The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

Luna requirements in detail

Translation

Luna states no translation rule; foreign transcripts reach it through an evaluation (catalog). The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency. WES, ECE and IERF accept a translation from a professional service (see below).

Evaluation

From a NACES member or another CHEA-recognized credential evaluation service, showing equivalence to US secondary and/or post-secondary credentials, paid by you (catalog).

What to submit

The evaluation together with the associated transcript (catalog).

Official transcripts

Sent directly by the school in a sealed envelope or through an accepted provider; admission stays provisional until a high school transcript or HiSET/GED transcript arrives (admissions).

Visa

Luna issues no I-20s and is not SEVIS approved; people already in the US on an approved visa or other status may be eligible (Admissions).

Cost to apply

Open admissions and no application fee (Admissions).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

Luna accepts any NACES member, so you choose the agency, and with it the translation rule.

WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency; it does not accept translations by applicants and does not translate itself.

ECE asks for complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original and lets applicants prepare them; for $85 it sells a Translation Waiver, under which ECE translates internally for the report and no translation is delivered to you.

IERF asks for typed, line-by-line translations and may require a professional one.

Because Luna wants the evaluation submitted with the associated transcript, keep the certified translation with your copy as well: the report, the original transcript and its translation form one packet.

Residents and immigrants with records from abroad

Luna is not a SEVIS-approved college and does not issue I-20s, so its foreign-transcript rule mostly concerns people already living in New Mexico: residents, permanent residents and visa holders (admissions).

For a regular admission you need a high school transcript showing graduation, or a HiSET/GED transcript, and college transcripts if you studied before (Admissions).

With a high school diploma from abroad, the evaluation must show that it equals a US secondary credential (catalog).

Need a certified translation for Luna?

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school diploma or leaving certificate
  • High school transcripts or mark sheets, every year
  • University transcripts and degree certificates
  • Grading scale printed with the transcripts

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Luna

  • The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account). Then submit the agency's report with the associated transcript to Luna's Admissions Office, 366 Luna Drive, Las Vegas, NM, or admissions@luna.edu (catalog).

  • eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; on request we can also email the translation directly to the admissions office.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Luna that means we translate your records for the agency; the evaluation showing the US equivalent is ordered by you from a NACES member or another recognized service.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Luna require a certified translation of my transcript?

Luna itself publishes no translation rule. It requires an evaluation from a NACES member or another CHEA-recognized service (catalog), and the agency asks for the translation: WES wants one from a professional translator (WES).

Which evaluation service can I use for Luna?

Any NACES member, or another service recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (catalog).

What must the evaluation say?

That your credentials equal US secondary and/or post-secondary credentials, as appropriate (catalog).

Can I get an F-1 visa through Luna?

No. Luna does not issue I-20s and is not SEVIS approved (Admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
